This has allowed millions of players from all over the world to jump into the game’s lore-filled and beautiful world to collect treasure, fight bosses, and clear dungeons to upgrade the stats of their favorite characters.

Genshin Impact: 8 Best Character Duos
We have some tips on which characters go great in pairs when fighting battles in Genshin Impact. These are our favorite duos.
The game is full of challenges to complete, quests to do, and bosses to fight, and sometimes it can be difficult to take these on by yourself. One of the draws of Genshin Impact is that you can play online co-op with your friends, provided they’re on the same server region as you. With this, players can take on the world of Teyvat together, and there’s plenty that they can do while in co-op mode.
Update on January 11, 2025, by Asad Kashif: Along with new characters like Xilonen and Chasca, Genshin Impact continues to release more ways for players to spend time with one another. Gadgets like the Kaboom Box let you play casual minigames in co-op, while specific time-limited events grant you splendid rewards for hanging out with friends. We’ve added these, as well as some old tried-and-tested activities that Genshin Players have been doing in co-op since the game first came out. Here are all the best things you can do in Genshin Impact’s co-op mode.
16
Go Fishing
Genshin Impact’s fishing update lets you craft bait and collect a variety of fish from every region in the game. It certainly isn’t as adrenaline-inducing as fighting world-ending threats or doing the Spiral Abyss, but having a moment to relax amidst all the chaos can be a great way to pass time after you’re done grinding through domains.
You can fish in co-op mode, too. Bring a friend along to gather fishy resources and have a relaxing time in Genshin Impact’s many regions. Each offers a unique selection of fish to catch, and completing your collection of underwater creatures can give great rewards, including strong weapons for your characters.

Use The In-Game Chat And Friends System
Using an external chat client can be annoying for many players. That’s why Genshin Impact’s built-in chat system is handy. With one tap or click, a chat window pops up, letting you communicate with your friends or the people in your world. There’s also a selection of stickers to use.

Genshin Impact’s social system also includes a friend system. You can add your friends by entering their User ID. You can then check their online status to see whenever they’re available to play. Plus, you can make new friends through the game by requesting to enter the game of a player who may be online, too.
14
Take Photos Together
Genshin Impact’s world is beautiful and vast, with lots of different locations and vistas, all sporting their own beauty. Fans have taken a liking to the game’s built-in photo mode due to features like background blurring and setting character expressions, which provide lots of options for framing the perfect shot.
Thankfully, you and your friends can also take photos together in co-op mode. Hanging out in Teyvat and taking group pictures together can be a fun and casual activity between adventuring and fighting.
13
Fight Bosses Together
The world of Genshin Impact is full of different bosses that all pack a punch. They require different strategies to beat them, and some are harder than others. Fighting them is pretty much necessary in order to progress, because the materials they drop can be used to ascend your characters.
You can fight every Genshin Impact boss in co-op mode except for Stormterror.
Bringing a friend along to fight bosses can make things much less daunting. Both you and your co-op partners get the rewards from defeating the boss, and you can beat it in less time and with less of a headache, so it’s a win-win.
12
Complete Daily Commissions Together
There are a lot of different daily commissions to complete in Genshin Impact. Unfortunately, some can be quite mundane, such as the one with Timmie’s ducks. Others can be harder or just plain cumbersome, making you wonder if the reward is worth the effort.
If your daily commissions feel too troublesome, you can invite a friend to join your world and help you clear them. If they haven’t done their own commissions, helping you with yours fills up their commission progress as well, making an otherwise boring chore into a fun hangout.
11
Grind Domains
Domains are challenging, dungeon-like areas scattered all over Genshin Impact’s world. They offer different rewards based on the day and domain, which allow you to build weapons, improve your characters, and upgrade your artifacts. As such, they shouldn’t be neglected when building your character.
Sometimes, you and your friend may want the same domain rewards, and the better the rewards, the harder the domain challenge. Fortunately, you can complete domains with friends in co-op, making it a lot easier to get the rewards you need.
10
Complete Challenges
Challenges are little points all over Teyvat with different landmarks to identify them. They come in a variety of types, such as gliding challenges, racing challenges, blowing up barrels, or defeating enemies within a set amount of time.
Sometimes, especially for challenges involving defeating enemies quickly, you might find yourself overwhelmed. For this, you can work with friends in co-op and clear the challenges. Working together allows players to create elemental combos with more ease and also just deal more raw damage than if they were playing solo.
9
Treasure Hunting
Genshin Impact’s ever-expanding world has rewards at every corner of your journey. Sometimes, these are locked behind challenges and puzzles. Other times, they can be hidden in plain sight, hiding behind a billboard, or inside a bush.

These treasure chests are scattered all over Teyvat, and sometimes, you’ll have to defeat a large enemy or a group of enemies to unlock them. It can be a fun group activity to go treasure hunting with some friends so that they can sight-see with you and help fight enemies along the way.
8
Ley Line Outcrops
Ley Line Outcrops are randomly generated points on your map where you can start challenges to defeat enemies and, depending on the outcrop, get either EXP materials or Mora as a reward. These are handy for grinding levels on your characters and making sure that you have enough funds to purchase in-game items and upgrades, but they can get tedious.
Fortunately, they can be done with friends. Just head into a friend’s world or invite them to your world, activate the Ley Line challenge, and get to fighting enemies. Both you and your friend can reap the rewards, making this a great opportunity for everyone to stock up.
7
Earn Special Achievements
In Genshin Impact, players can earn achievements through the game’s built-in achievement system, which primarily offers Primogems as rewards. As Primogems are one of the most sought-after currencies in the game, it’s important to remember that you can snag a bunch just by completing these achievements.
It should also be noted that a fair number of achievements require playing in co-op mode and that they offer a lot of Primogems. Players should take some time to play with their friends so that they can earn these and get as many rewards as possible. Co-op achievements fall into the Meetings in Outrealm series. We’ve listed some of them below.
6
Play Hot Potato
Genshin Impact has released many Gadgets over the years to make your game easier or more fun. These are permanent reusable items once gained, but as some are locked behind temporary events, it’s fairly easy to miss out on them.
One such Gadget is the Kaboom Box mailed to Genshin Impact players simply for logging in during the duration of the Gift for a New Horizon: A Thank-You Gift event. This item can be placed on any plain surface and then hit in turns by different players. After a randomized number of hits, the Kaboom Box explodes, branding the last attacker the loser.
5
Genshin PvP
When you’re out of Resin, there isn’t much you can do in Genshin Impact. In such dire times, one of the oldest games created by Genshin Players was Pyro PvP. Now, Genshin doesn’t have any actual Player vs. Player content, and it most likely never will due to how P2W it would be. Still, if you want it enough, you can try burning your friends.
Simply switch to a Pyro character and then drown yourself in a nearby pool of water. Then, use a revival food to put yourself at just a minuscule amount of HP. Now, find yourself a beautiful field of grass and try to light up the ground under your friend’s feet before they do the same to you, since a single instance of Burning damage would kill you.
4
Damage Showcases
If you’re farming domains with friends and run out of Resin and are now wondering what you can do in Genshin Impact’s co-op mode, one of the most fun activities is doing damage showcases and comparing who deals the higher damage. While possible solo as well, your friend may have a support that you don’t have access to, such as Shenhe, letting you reach numbers you wouldn’t be able to just with your own characters.

Another thing that makes it easier to do damage showcases in co-op is getting the timing right. For certain Elemental Bursts that require charging before they nuke the enemy, such as Eula’s, getting Mona’s Elemental Burst buff on her while alone is impossible. However, with the help of a friend, you can time it right before Eula’s Burst goes off, getting that sweet 60 percent DMG Bonus on it.
3
Event Challenges
Albeit not always available, the Genshin Impact team often comes up with events that both serve as a fun way to spend time while also rewarding players with Primogems and other rewards. Plenty of these events end up being co-op, letting you join your friends and partake in them together.
Be it using Kinich’s hook to parkour and collect coins or shooting Electro Slimes into goal posts as Klee, the events have enough variety to be fun for everyone, and certain ones, such as the Theater Mechanicus, are all-time fan favorites.
2
Volleyball
Genshin has a variety of enemies. From tiny Hilichurls to the gigantic Apep, there’s enough diversity to keep anyone interested. However, one fun thing you can do with humanoids especially, including both humans like Eremites, as well as Hilichurls, is to juggle them.

This can be done by knocking them up in the air and then trying to time your attacks to launch them up again. While this can be done alone, doing it with friends can result in even funnier moments. If you find timing your attacks difficult but have access to Jean, you and your friends can even use her Elemental Skill to throw enemies to one another, which can be a very interesting way of farming materials.
1
Serenitea Pot
Genshin Impact lets you have your personal housing within Teyvat’s world. Unlike in other games, this doesn’t exist within the world itself but is in a separate dimension of its own. You can decorate it with items you unlock through exploration and events and can invite your favorite characters to live with you.
Being the best way of self-expression within Genshin Impact, exploring your friend’s Serenitea Pots and guiding them through your own is one of the many fun activities you can do in Genshin’s co-op. Whether it’s an entirely custom composition or a recreation of something that already exists in Teyvat, exploring what people close to you can come up with is a joy unlike anything else.
