The Gathering Fans Think This Secret Lair Island Looks Inappropriate

Summary

  • Five new cards have been revealed as part of Secret Lair’s Chaos Vault series.
  • This one card is getting the most attention, for obvious reasons.
  • The series allows artists to “stretch [their] creative muscles”, and one of them is certainly making the most of that.

Five new Magic: The Gathering cards have been announced as part of Secret Lair’s Chaos Vault run. This gives us some new wacky and wonderful designs, as the Chaos Vault series is supposed to let artists do “one-off, cool, weird things”, as per the blog post.

And, well, one of the cards in particular is certainly making the most of this creative freedom. The designs were dropped yesterday, and as you can imagine, the community is having a really fun time pointing out what this one looks like. Frankly, it’s completely understandable.

MTG Fans Are Having A Lot Of Fun With This One Card

It didn’t take fans long to notice that second card in the slideshow here. To absolutely no surprise, the top comment, courtesy of Reddit user SaltyCream, is “r/mildlyvagina/”. To which MrWienerDawg (we’ve got some terribly fitting usernames here, huh?) replied, “Nothing mild about this one.”

There are some other beautiful exchanges in the comments too. Getting straight to the point, TheJapuma says, “The island looks like a vagina.” Then TemurTron chimes in saying, “Here we go again with Magic players and their sick minds! I bet it doesn’t even look like a va- oh my.

2024 had its ups and downs, but what was the best Magic: The Gathering set of the year?

Also, honourable mention to Mortoimpazzo for this banger: “They expected magic players not to know what a vagina looked like.”

Of course, it’s always great to see an artist flex their creative muscles like this, and all of the cards look great. It’s also undoubtedly brought a smile to a lot of faces this weekend, which is lovely.

Now, in perhaps the strangest segue I have written in a news story ever – this is far from the only MTG story we have. There’s also the ongoing speculation that one of the next Universes Beyond MTG sets will be themed around Avatar: The Last Airbender. This hasn’t been confirmed, but recent MTG Arena deals seemed to strongly suggest that this is the case.
