The Complete Ranked Guide and Tips

Magic Chess: Go Go Ranked Guide Cover

Magic Chess: Go Go is a free-to-play chess-like multiplayer strategy title, developed by Vizta Games, a subsidiary of MOONTON Games. It is based on the popular game mode of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, known as Magic Chess mode. Unlike MLBB’s Magic Chess mode, MCGG features various game modes, and with the Ranked mode, the game has introduced Ranked tiers, Seasonal rewards, Rank Conquest, and lots of other features.

In this Magic Chess: Go Go Ranked Guide, I’ll provide you an overview of how the Ranked Mode works, the number of tiers available, tips on ranking up faster, and the various rewards you can get from it. If you are recently starting the game, we have also covered a Beginner’s Guide to help you with the basics. Also, remember to go through our redeem codes article to grab some freebies along the way.

Introducing the Ranked Mode in Magic Chess: Go Go

Magic Chess: Go Go’s Ranked mode is the best mode to showcase your skills and strategic prowess, against seven other players of the same caliber. Of the three game modes currently available in the game, the Ranked mode happens to be the most enjoyable one, even if you are not that competitive.

Unlike MLBB’s magic chess mode, where every match was simply a ranked game, here you will enjoy the competitive aspect more as there is a dedicated mode where competitive players will try hard. You can either go solo or join ranked matches with your friends, although you guys will still compete against one another.

To secure victory in the Ranked mode, you must finish in the Top 4 positions of the match. If you can’t perform well and fall into the bottom 4, it will be considered as your defeat, leading to the loss of your ranked stars. The game doesn’t have a Leaderboard right now. If you are familiar with MLBB’s ranked matches or have played before, you will find the mechanics quite similar.

Your rank will reset at the end of the season, with your new rank determined by the highest rank tier you achieved during the previous season. To advance to higher ranks, you will need to achieve the maximum number of Stars in your current rank tier. Your placement in your match affects the Stars you gain or lose after the match is over.

Magic Chess: Go Go Ranked Mode tiers

Magic Chess: Go Go mainly features eight ranked tiers, each of them having more sub-tiers. The lowest tier in the game is Warrior, while the highest tier is Mythical Honor.

  • Warrior
  • Elite
  • Master
  • Grandmaster
  • Epic
  • Legend
  • Mythic
  • Mythical Honor

Ranked System: Star-raising Points and Protection Points mechanism

After your match is over, you will earn Star-raising Points if you win, and Protection Points if you lose. They function similarly to those in MLBB, helping you either maintain your current rank or progress more quickly up the ladder.

If you fill the meter with enough Star-raising Points, you will be rewarded with an additional ranked star, while filling the Protection Points meter ensures that you won’t lose a star even after losing a match. Additionally, You can earn bonus points by consecutively winning matches and achieving win streaks.

However, these features are unavailable once you reach Mythic and Mythical Honor, making it more challenging to climb higher, which I believe is for the better. Once you reach Mythic and Mythical Honor, you are already considered a highly skilled player.

Season Rewards

In Magic Chess: Go Go, you will find Season Rewards, also known as Season Journey, that function similarly to MLBB’s Season Rewards. You can earn a variety of rewards from the Season Rewards, simply by playing a lot of ranked matches throughout the season.

You can obtain a Commander skin by playing 15 ranked matches and you can obtain a season-exclusive border by playing 150 ranked matches. Not just these rewards, but you can also get lots of Chess Points and Go Go Chests through the same process. Just grind a lot, without focusing on these rewards.

Rank Conquest

The game also offers Rank Conquest for the Ranked mode, where you can earn a variety of items by advancing to higher rank tiers. Up until the Epic tier, you will only receive Chess Points, which changes once you reach Legend. By reaching Legend X, you will obtain a Star Protection card, and hitting the Mythic rank will grant you the exclusive S0 Profile Background.

However, while the Mythical Honor is currently the highest rank in the game, there are no rewards available for reaching that tier at this moment.

How to climb up ranks quickly in Magic Chess: Go Go

Now let’s dive into how you can quickly climb up the ranks, and also unlock all the season rewards and rank conquest rewards. Currently, you have to grind the Ranked mode a lot, to climb the ladder, and as I mentioned previously, your rank is determined by your end position when the match ends. Try to be at least in the fourth place to win and rank up properly.

1. Practice various lineups till you have a consistent one

In the recommended lineup section, you will find various strong lineups available. You should start with the top-recommended ones, and practice with them until you discover the most suitable one. Alternatively, you can also try the lineups I suggested in our beginner’s guide, and practice them.

The more you play with a specific lineup, or experiment with multiple lineups, the better you will become as a player. Each match is different, with different scenarios, that might not go according to your plan. The sooner you find a winning lineup, the better, as it will give you a significant advantage.

2. Improvise and strategize quickly

Similar to traditional chess, you will need to improvise based on the situation you are dealing with in this game as well. The ability to adapt to different situations and improvise based on that comes with a lot of experience, so play both Classic and Ranked mode regularly to get more experience and improve your strategic prowess.

While luck also matters in this game, it will only benefit you if you can strategize quickly and take advantage of situations during the match. For instance, some players, either due to hurry or tense moments, don’t take the Go Go Crystal even when it’s free. And, you should take advantage of these specific moments.

3. Max out your Commander, that goes well with the lineup

The devs have revamped the previous system for upgrading Commanders, making it a bit harder this time. While it’s not overly challenging, you will need to grind more, wait for events, or purchase with Diamonds.

To upgrade a Commander, you need three copies of that Commander, so upgrading it to level three may take some time. But you should do it as it provides a significant advantage during your match. Find a strong commander, that works well with your lineup and focus on maxing it out for optimal gameplay.

4. Focus on increasing your game knowledge

You will find a lot of features in this game, which may look like a lot at the beginning, but you should work on it. You can again take advantage of our beginner’s guide to ease the learning curve and get valuable insights, tips, and tricks for a rewarding gameplay experience.
