The Sims franchise is the epitome of creating the lifestyle that players dream of having, or for playing out humorous taboo interactions. There is a good selection of careers to choose from, including taking on the culinary arts, or becoming an astronaut. One such career involves retail management. Though the option to run a store is not the core component of the overall gameplay, The Sims 4 is worth a mention due to its vast customization ability.
Through the Get to Work expansion pack, players can opt in to running their own store and choosing the items they would like to sell. From bakeries and bookstores to a clothing boutique, it’s an exciting feature that adds to the whimsy of this long-running life simulation series. If players want to run a boutique, they can purchase a lot via the Magnolia Promenade world. Existing clothes shops — JF&S Clothiers and The Roadstead — are available, or players can build their own on the empty lot nearby. After that, all that’s needed is a cash register. Build Mode will have mannequins available to purchase, and players can dress them up via Create-A-Sim. Then the finished outfit will be up for sale. Decorate the store and ring customers up to receive Simoleons, and use the funds to make the boutique the best it can be.

The My Universe series also deals with a few other professions, including vet, teacher, and chef; gamers can even try parenting. Fashion Boutique is not the most in-depth series entry, but it’s a good start for someone who would like a game with simple mechanics. It’s also suitable for children looking to dip their toes into shop management with easy gameplay.
There are two segments: the first is creating clothing from scratch by choosing the garment, fabric, print, and colors. Once decided, the creation process is done in the form of minigames. These can be a little tedious due to having to do them every single time a garment is made (unless mastered), but at least it’s an extra bit of gameplay. The second segment involves opening up the store for customers to come in and purchase outfits from mannequins that can be styled, or by listening to their requests. A previous creation can be sold to them immediately, or players have the option to make one in the workshop on the spot. Earn medals to unlock new items, fabrics, and prints to make more clothing. While some customers have specific wants, there is freedom to adjust parts of the item, like sleeve length or neckline.

This game delves more into the complexities of business, so if someone is curious about that area, this game is the perfect starting point.
Customize the main character, business logo, type of location, and amount of wealth. Hire staff and manage their workflow, order stock, dive into marketing, and expand the store. Players can walk around too, making it a bit more immersive than just overseeing everything from above. There is a campaign that is scenario-based, where the player starts from nothing and works their way up. Or, players can try out Sandbox Mode and create as freely as they like.

Otome games are a popular kind of dating simulator typically catered to women. Some have a more straightforward path with only one character to date, whereas others are non-linear and give players the choice to explore multiple paths and endings, allowing for more replayability. Tailor Tales combines the mechanics of an otome with boutique management, balancing fashion design and the act of pursuing a romantic interest.

As requests are completed, their profit increases. Progression to the next part of the story is locked behind the in-game currency, encouraging players to keep designing.
