Summary
- Marvel Rivals players are hopeful the game’s lost beta skins will one day make a return.
- Spider-Punk 2099 and Venom’s Cyan Clash appear to be the ones players are pining for most.
- While beta players who unlocked it were allowed to keep Cyan Clash, Spider-Punk and other beta skins were removed from the game after the beta.
NetEase has known it was onto a winner with Marvel Rivals ever since its beta last summer when more than 50,000 people were playing the invite-only test during its first day. Betas are usually used to eliminate issues from games before a full release, but there’s something from the Rivals’ test its players want back – the exclusive skins.
Several skins available in Marvel Rivals during the beta haven’t returned for its full release. The aptly named RivalSkins shared screenshots of four of them on Twitter, a Spider-Punk 2099 many players might not have even seen before among them. Not only are these skins not available to buy or unlock in the game, but even those who obtained them during the beta were not able to keep them for the full release.

Marvels Rivals Will No Longer Let Players Use Skin Mods
No more running around as Hatsune Miku or caked up Venom.
There are a couple of exceptions to that for those who played the Rivals beta and the closed alpha before it. Alpha testers were allowed to keep Scarlet Witch’s Moonlit Witch skin, and if you made it to level 30 during the beta test period, the Cyan Clash Venom skin you might have seen players wearing was also gifted to you to keep for the game’s full release last month.
Marvel Rivals Players Want The Beta Skins To Make A Comeback
And A Second Chance To Unlock Venom’s Cyan Clash
While I’m sure there are a lot of you out there who would jump at the chance to unlock the Moonlit Witch skin, Cyan Venom and the Spider-Punk 2099 looks appear to be the two that players would like to see make a return the most. Replies to posts pining for them are filled with a surprising amount of optimism. A belief that they will eventually return, whether that be via the luxury battle pass or available to buy through the in-game store.
Anyone hoping to see them in season one’s battle pass have had their hopes dashed. Rivals’ season one battle pass is loaded, but none of the skins you can unlock are ones that were available during the beta. I am still siding with the optimists on this one, though. A lot of work has gone into those designs. So much so that it would be a shame not to add them to the game permanently. It’s also an opportunity to fill a battle pass slot with something ready to go rather than make something new from scratch.
Marvel Rivals season one is underway and we will undoubtedly be learning new things about the hit hero shooter over the coming days. Most notably whether Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman are worth your time. There are also Hawkeye and Hela nerfs to take note of, and Jeff’s Ultimate should now be a little easier to avoid.
Marvel Rivals is a Super Hero Team-Based PVP Shooter! Assemble an all-star Marvel squad, devise countless strategies by combining powers to form unique Team-Up skills and fight in destructible, ever-changing battlefields across the continually evolving Marvel universe!
