Marvel Rivals Characters Who Deserve A New Skin In Season 1

Marvel Rivals Characters Who Deserve A New Skin In Season 1

Summary

  • Some Marvel Rivals characters, like Storm, Black Widow, & Luna Snow, received fewer skins by the end of Season 0 – Dooms’ Rise.
  • Characters like Hulk and Iron Fist have limited cosmetics, with only two skins available for them besides their default outfits.
  • Popularity and strength of heroes like Psylocke, despite limited cosmetics, make them deserving of additional unique skins in the game.

Marvel Rivals had a significant launch roster, with Season 0 including over thirty different characters to play across the Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist roles. Each and every one of these characters also has a unique set of cosmetics, with more gradually being added to the game with each new season and event that comes and passes. These skins can be obtained in a variety of ways, such as from Twitch drops, as Battle Pass rewards, awarded by completing in-game challenges, inputting codes, and shop purchases.

Marvel Rivals: What Could Captain Marvel’s Kit Look Like?

Marvel Rivals is about to get its first set of post-launch heroes, and it’s been rumored Captain Marvel could be joining the roster at a later date.

While many of the characters on the roster received one or more skins during Season 0 – Dooms’ Rise, others have fallen slightly behind in terms of cosmetics. When it comes to Season 1, there are some characters who deserve to have a skin added for them to help them catch up with the others, even if only as a purchase option in the store.

Keeping in mind that Season 1’s Battle Pass has been leaked/previewed, this list focuses on characters who have a total amount of skins lesser than others in Season 0 and excludes those who have already been seen in the Season 1 Battle Pass leak/previews.

Ororo Munroe

X-Men

Storm is a Duelist character in Marvel Rivals who has a unique toolkit, enabling her to switch between damage boosting or speed boosting herself and her allies. She can use wind projectiles and bolts of lightning to deal damage to opponents, and her ultimate enables her to transform into a tornado to draw in nearby enemies and deal damage to them.

Storm was in a rough spot throughout Season 0 due to the fact that she fills an odd role that takes elements of DPS/Duelist, and elements of Support/Strategist, with her excelling in neither field. Storm’s damage is much weaker than the other heroes, and a lot of the time she can be a sitting duck. Sadly, this isn’t the only struggle Storm faced in Season 0, with her only having two cosmetics other than her default costume. There’s Ivory Breeze, which is her default recolor cosmetic, and then there’s Mohawk Rock, a Marvel Comics skin.

Black Widow is one of the few sniper characters in the game, equipped with a hitscan sniper rifle to pick off enemies from afar, and electric batons to inflict minor damage at a melee range. Her Fleet Foot ability enables her to sprint long distances and perform an enhanced jump, which can help her reposition to more advantageous spots, and her Edge Dancer ability deals damage with a spinning kick. Lastly, her Electro-Plasma Explosion ultimate enables her to fire a projectile that slows all hit enemies, enabling her to pick them off more easily.

Black Widow also has a team-up ability with another fellow sniper, Hawkeye. This allows her to see afterimages when he casts his Ultimate ability, enabling her to assist in easily picking off players throughout its duration. However, unlike Hawkeye, who received a total of three skins other than his default by the end of Season 0, Black Widow falls lightly behind, only receiving two — Lethal Toxicity, which is her variant of the recolor all heroes have, and White Suit, which is an MCU cosmetic.

Luna Snow is a popular Strategist hero, utilizing the ability to either heal her allies or inflict damage on opponents with hitscan ice bullets. She also has a clap ability which can damage or heal multiple people while also restoring her own health, an ice-skating passive that gives her increased movement speed and jump, a freeze ability that can be used to temporarily stun opponents and shut down some abilities, and an Aura that can be attached to an ally to grant them healing any time she heals someone else. Lastly, her ultimate, Share the Stage, provides her with an AOE that she can toggle to provide either massive healing or a significant damage boost for allies.

Dracula debuts in Marvel Rivals with the launch of Season 1, Eternal Night Falls. Here’s everything you need to know about this iconic character.

Although she quickly made her way into the selection of the most frequently played heroes due to her simplistic controls yet high skill ceiling, Luna Snow remains one of the Strategist characters to have the fewest skins by the end of Season 0 – Dooms’ Rise. Prior to Season 1, she only had the Minty Beats cosmetic, which is her version of the recolor that all heroes have available, and then her Shining Star cosmetic, which is an original and is featured in the shop.

  • Tandy Bowen

X-Men

Cloak & Dagger are one of the most unique characters in the game, letting players freely toggle between Cloak and Dagger as two different characters with slightly different abilities. Dagger has lock-on projectiles that inflict damage to opponents and healing for enemies, a healing wall that provides boosted heals for all allies it passes through, and an AOE that provides strong healing for everyone inside. Cloak has a lock-on damage beam very similar to Scarlet Witch, a window that blinds and damages all enemies it passes through, and the ability to phase himself and his allies, making them temporarily invulnerable.

Just like many other candidates on this list, Cloak & Dagger sadly only has two cosmetics other than their default, featuring their variant of the recolor all heroes have with the Lemon Lime cosmetic, and then taking on an almost whimsical, fantasy-like aesthetic with the Growth & Decay cosmetic, which is available for purchase in the store. It would be very satisfying to see Cloak & Dagger receive some new looks in Season 1, especially since they’re so unique. Being a combination of two characters, there are a lot of really fun ideas they could take on.

Dr. Robert Bruce Banner

Avengers

Hulk can toggle between his Hero Hulk form and Bruce Banner either at will, or by being forced out of Hulk mode by reducing his HP to zero. While Bruce wields nothing but a mere pistol and Gamma Grendade, Hulk can take on a melee tank role with his punches, leaping in and out of combat, generating Gamma Shields to protect himself or vulnerable allies, and temporarily immobilizing enemies with his Radioactive Lockdown ability. Lastly, his Hulk Smash Ultimate enables him to make very aggressive plays by transforming into Monster Hulk.

Unlike some of his other Vanguard counterparts who received up to four skins other than their default by the end of Season 0 (looking at you, Venom), Hulk remains limited to just two cosmetics other than his basic default costume. His two options include his variant of the recolor that every hero has available, Mighty G. Bomb, or his Green Scar skin, which is a Marvel Comics cosmetic. There are certainly some unique concepts that could be created for Hulk, particularly for his Hero form, so it will be really interesting to see what the Marvel Rivals team can come up with moving forward.

Iron Fist is a melee Duelist character who can cause a real hassle for the opponent by diving into the backline with his wall run and melee combos and then picking off targeted squishes such as vulnerable healers or other isolated heroes. Iron Fist also has the ability to heal himself, which, when paired with a get-in, get-out approach to his playstyle, gives Iron Fist a lot more uptime and enables him to continue confirming kills.

There’s More to Marvel Rivals’ Iron Fist Than Meets The Eye

Iron Fist has become one of Marvel Rivals’ most infamous characters, but there’s more to this version of the hero that fans might not be aware of.

As Season 0 – Dooms’ Rise approaches its end, Iron Fist only has two other cosmetics aside from his default outfit – his Martial Arts Savant skin, which is the base recolor variant that all heroes received, and Sword Master, which was one of the many Marvel Comics skins to be seen throughout Season 0. It would be nice to see a new spin on an Iron Fist cosmetic, perhaps following a new unique theme or aesthetic to match the new season.

Psylocke is a technical, yet very powerful Duelist hero who became one of the strongest picks and best DPS heroes throughout Season 0. She has the ability to deal damage to others with hitscan cross bolts, heal herself and damage the enemy with her shurikens, utilize timed invisibility to initiate flank routes on the enemy or get out of tricky situations, and slice at enemies within an AOE to deal massive damage through her ultimate.

Much like other fellow Duelists on this list, Psylocke only received two cosmetics other than her default look, with her options being either the Vengeance cosmetic, which is a Marvel Comics skin, or her Kirisaki Sakura cosmetic, which is Psylocke’s variant of the default recolor skin every hero received. Psylocke is undoubtedly a character who deserves a new look to show off in battle, especially with how popular she has become as a frequent pick in both competitive and casual game modes.
