Abductors are large robotic enemies you’ll constantly be fighting in Freedom Wars Remastered. There are many types of these enemies, each coming with different weapons forcing you to change up your strategy when fighting them.

While they can have multiple weapons equipped, each weapon can be severed off, giving the Abductor less to use in combat and more resources for you to collect. Here’s how severing works and how to do it.

What You Need For Severing In Freedom Wars Remastered

Severing can be done with any of the one-handed weapons in the game, you’ll just need to make sure it is equipped whenever you use your Thorn to latch onto the enemy. Letting you sever is one of the biggest selling points for one-handed melee weapons, but that doesn’t mean you can’t sever when choosing to use the other weapon types.

In the store Zakka, you can purchase something called a Flare Knife for 3,000 Entitlement Points. This is a combat item that, when equipped, allows you to sever an enemy no matter what primary weapon you currently have equipped. As long as the Flare Knife is equipped and in your active slot when you latch onto an enemy, the Sever option will be available.

When first making your character in Freedom Wars Remastered you’ll have to choose your Panopticon; here’s what that means.

How To Sever Abductor Limbs In Freedom Wars Remastered

When in combat with either a one-handed melee weapon or Flare Knife, you’ll first need to lock onto an enemy and target one of their limbs. As long as it is an extremity, the lock-on icon will appear red, indicating it can be severed. While locked on to that extremity, use your Thorn to pull yourself onto the enemy and the sever button will appear on screen. This will see your character latching on and starting to saw away at the connection between the body and the extremity as long as you continue to press the sever button.

The semi-circle that appears around the sever button indicates how close you are to severing that limb, and the gauge will stay the same if you’re knocked down and have to try again. While severing, you’ll deal continuous damage while also cutting off the limb, but you can also easily be knocked off if the Adbuctor does a few things:

  • Attacks with that limb.
  • Runs into a wall.
  • Swipes at you with its other arm.

To avoid getting killed while severing, you’ll need to keep watching the Abductor and jump off when needed to make sure you avoid any damage. Using the basic jump command while severing will stop the process and have you jump clearly off without taking damage.

You can also slowly sever a limb without latching on by jumping and attacking the connection point between the limb and main body where you’d normally sever, but this won’t always deal damage to the sever meter and is unreliable compared to grappling and severing as usual. Limbs severed off will be unusable by the enemy and can also be picked up for additional resources to donate or hold onto.
