Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was one of the first games in the Assassin’s Creed franchise that gave the player the choice of choosing between two characters to be the protagonist. This added not only some customization to a player’s playthrough but also gave players a reason to play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey a second time.

Best Mods For Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
If players want to get the most out of their time in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, they should consider installing these mods.
However, being able to play as either Alexios or Kassandra isn’t the only reason why a player should play Odyssey again. There are plenty of other things in this game set in Ancient Greece that make it replayable. These are some of the ways a player can shake up the game for a second playthrough.

Pick Different Dialogue Options
There Are Multiple Ways To Interact
In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, players interact with various NPCs both throughout the story and in various side quests. Unlike previous Assassin’s Creed games, where players would simply watch the protagonist interact with these characters, players are now able to decide how they talk to these various characters.
By playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey a second time, a player can deliberately choose different dialogue options, with some of these decisions even changing the outcome of a quest, from talking their way out of something to instead having to fight.
7
Use A Different Weapon
Learn An Entirely New Fighting Style
The combat in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is by far some of the best in the franchise. While the hidden blade may be nowhere to be seen in Ancient Greece, there is plenty of different weaponry, from spears, swords, and blunt weapons that allow Kassandra or Alexios to become the perfect Soldier.
During the first playthrough of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a player may have found a set of weapons that they enjoy using most of all. Therefore, a player can shake up a second playthrough by deliberately using different weapons that they may not have considered previously. This also means combat will feel fresh again, as the player will see different moves and have to play differently.

Play As The Opposite Sibling
The Original Player Becomes The Villain
Both Alexios and Kassandra play a big role in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. If the player decides to be Kassandra, then Alexios becomes Deimos, then the opposite happens if the player decides to play as Alexios instead.

The Best Outfits In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Odyssey is a sprawling, complex game with a ton of different customization choices, and, while collecting armor may be fun, not all sets are equal.
Therefore, to shake up a second playthrough, a player may decide to play as the opposite sibling to what they had originally played as. This therefore allows them to experience the game as a completely different character and hear how their lines are different. It may even make a player feel that the sibling they were originally playing works better as Deimos.

Play The New Game Plus
Players Start Their Journey Again With An Advantage
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey does the shaking up for the player, as starting the game again doesn’t need to be from scratch. With the New Game Plus, players can start Odyssey from the beginning without losing any of their experience. Players don’t only get to keep their skills and master level, but also all the equipment they have, both on their character and stored.
This may make a player feel quite overpowered at points, but it also allows players to experience the game again without the tedious nature of grinding levels once more. However, it should still be noted that New Game Plus does come with its own challenges, as enemies will scale to meet the player’s increased level.
4
Attempt Some Challenges
Play The Game Without Buying Any Skills
While the game does already have its own in-game challenges for the player to attempt, a player may even create their own challenges to make a second playthrough more exciting. Some great examples of challenges a player could attempt may be playing while using no skill points.
A player would be forced to fight off enemies in the most basic of combat without any buffs to their damage. Alternatively, a player may even deliberately use the weakest weapons and armor they can find, which would make them have to be even more careful in combat.
3
Try A Harder Difficulty
Time To Attempt Nightmare Difficulty
A player is likely to complete their first playthrough of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on Normal difficulty. This is arguably the best way to experience both the story and gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey when playing this game in the franchise for the first time.

Best Historical Locations In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey contains a wealth of beautiful historical locations for players to explore.
Those who are looking for a reason to play Odyssey again may wish to mix things up by playing the game at a far harder difficulty, such as Nightmare mode. As the hardest difficulty in the game, a player is in for quite a challenge as enemies don’t only hit harder, but there will also be more enemies to be killed in the different areas.
2
Fight For The Opposite Side Of The War
Help Athens Or Sparta In Battle
With the game being set during the times of Ancient Greece while the Spartans and Athenians are battling, the protagonist, who is a mercenary, is able to fight for either side of the war. When looking at the map, players can help defend or attack a territory in Greece on either side. Players get rewards depending on the difficulty and the side they have chosen.
While it is possible to work for both sides as seen in the main story, a player can pick to only fight for one side of the war. If a player decided in their first playthrough to only fight for the Spartans, in a second playthrough they could instead side with the Athenians whenever possible. This could give them different rewards as well as allow the player to role-play their character differently.
1
Working Toward A Different Ending
There Are Countless Endings To Achieve
The most recent Assassin’s Creed games have changed the franchise as a whole, and this was especially seen in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, with the player being able to achieve various outcomes at the end of the game, depending on who lived or died.
When starting the game again, a player can work towards new objectives, such as making sure certain characters didn’t make it or working towards making sure that everyone lives this time. This also means the main quests in the game will be different too, as players make different choices.
