Here’s how to command a murder of crows to dominate your opposition as Hela in Marvel Rivals!

Most Hela experts stay at the back of the enemy team, making sure they have a strong line of sight and slowly eliminate everyone on your team. In that case, how do you even counter someone like her? Fortunately, there are some strategies you can implement.

General Tips To Counter Hela

Marvel Rivals Hela set against the Tokyo map backdrop

The Asgardian Goddess of Death may have a commanding demeanor in the game, but her 250 HP doesn’t keep her invincible. Her best defense, thus, is her positioning. The best Hela players are usually found at the back of the team, firing shots from a certain distance.

Hela can also teleport to different places, so you can expect her to stay mobile, albeit briefly, even if she’s being a sharpshooter for the team.

Hence, you will notice her switch positions as the team moves based on the game’s objective. Her ultimate ability is perhaps the most terrifying thing to expect from her kit. It lifts her high in the air, letting her fire a volley of shots (Nastrond Crows) towards your team. Since this attack is easy to control, most Hela players tend to earn a lot of damage as well as kills when firing this ability at a group of opponents.

More often than not, Hela players have a spot on the map where they feel the safest. They’ll rotate to this place often, trying to focus on getting the most kills. This will be your opportunity to outsmart them. Once you have an understanding of Hela’s most frequented locations, keep tracking her and eliminate her the moment you get a chance to do so.

Finally, keep in mind that the moment Hela uses her Astral Flock ability to move to a nearby location, it takes around 12 seconds for her to gain the ability back again. This limits her mobility, making her slow and predictable for a while. Use this timeframe to deal as much damage as you can.

When she triggers her ultimate ability, don’t stay in a group. This will distract Hela, pushing her to fire individual shots at different opponents.

Countering Hela As A Vanguard

Magneto and Hela in Marvel Rivals.

As tanky characters, Vanguards can absorb Hela’s damage thanks to their enormous health pools. However, they lack the ability to attack at a long range. That’s why it’s ideal to play someone like Magneto when trying to counter Hela. As Magneto, you’ll have access to a reliable shield as well as damage absorption, which works pretty well against someone like Hela.

Her low-to-medium fire rate lets you calculate her next shot, and you’ll be using that time to fire your own. Magneto’s Iron Volley attacks are great at taking down an airborne Hela. His Metallic curtain and Metal Bulwark are the best for blocking and absorbing incoming attacks from Hela, turning the tables in your favor when needed. You can also make sure that you’re placing a shield on any teammate who’s moving towards Hela.

Finally, it’s good to have a reliable source of healing nearby when playing against Hela as a Vanguard. Otherwise, you’ll have to back out of the fight now and then in hopes of looking for a health boost. Hela’s constant volley of attacks is devastating against a team when not monitored! If possible, stay with your team’s Strategist and mark Hela for the team to focus on. The earlier she’s out of the way, the better!

Doctor Strange is also a great pick when defending against Hela. His shield will protect your teammates when she triggers her ultimate.

Countering Hela As A Strategist

Luna Snow and Hela in Marvel Rivals.

When playing as a Strategist, your attention will likely be divided between healing your teammates and damaging your opponents. However, when fighting Hela, you’ll have to pick a Strategist who’s great at medium-to-long-range attacks. Someone like Mantis or Luna Snow will do the trick. However, mobility is key here!

If you choose to play as Luna Snow, constantly move around the map and look for Hela’s positioning. Try to take her out, as well as any healers around, can put your team at a great advantage, especially during the early stages of the map. Based on the objective, stay aware of where Hela usually retreats.

Luna’s resilience against Hela’s attacks also serves as an important reminder to fight her any chance you get. As she tries to target you, keep applying pressure by moving around her and firing projectiles in her direction. The more distracted she is, the better you (and your team) can play against her.

Alternatively, if you want to take an approach that’s safer and more appreciated by your teammates, focus on keeping the team alive. This gives them the opportunity to fight against Hela without worrying about being eliminated in an instant. Better yet—communicating with your team through voice/text chat in advance is a great rule to follow.

Even though it’s a great strategy to balance healing and attacking, some team members will favor your damage output against powerful enemies like Hela. So, feel free to focus on eliminating her before healing everyone else!

Countering Hela As A Duelist

Compared to Vanguard and Strategists, playing as a Duelist when going against Hela is a more versatile approach. This is so because your default goal as a Duelist is to do as much damage as you can. How you go about it is based on the character you choose. We recommend playing someone who excels at long-range and gives Hela tough competition. Moon Knight is an awesome character to master, thanks to his mobility and damage potential.

The best way to counter Hela as a Duelist is to never let her assume that you are targeting her. Since winning a one-on-one fight against her is quite challenging, pretend to focus on other enemies. Then, think about flanking the opponent team when you get the chance. Your best course of action is to fire at Hela when she’s least expecting it. Try getting around the enemy team’s positioning and attack Hela from a place that catches her off guard.

Unlike many other heroes, Hela lacks a strong ability to block incoming projectiles. Other than her Astral Flock ability, she has no skills that allow her to teleport or disappear from a fight. So, once you’ve locked her position down, make the best of your attacks, even if it means sacrificing yourself in the process.

Remember, characters like The Punisher, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, and Black Widow are powerful against someone like Hela. The goal is to pick someone who isn’t afraid of moving around and landing strong attacks whenever needed. Sometimes Hela’s attacks can be too overwhelming to counter, and that’s when an exit strategy should help you leave the fight.

Make sure you’re aware of the spawn points and healing locations on the map. This will help you strategize your flank attacks.
