Saimori Miyo is the oldest daughter of the Saimori family, a renowned noble lineage boasting a rich heritage of individuals with the Gift. Those with the Gift possess supernatural abilities that enable them to combat Grotesqueries or spirits. These Grotesqueries are evil entities that pose a threat to humanity, capable of wreaking havoc if not kept under control.

Normal humans cannot see spirits, and only those with the Gift have the ability of Spirit Sight and the means of battling these monsters. As Miyo was born into the Saimori family, it was believed that she would also awaken her powers and thus become an ability user with Spirit Sight like her half-sister.

Although Miyo was born into the Saimori family, she possessed no abilities until she was 19. Miyo was the product of an arranged marriage between her father, Shinichi, and mother, Sumi. Miyo’s mother, Sumi, was a noble from the Usuba family, a much more prestigious family known for their powerful Gifts. While normal Gift-users were deployed to battle Grotesqueries, the Usubas were known to take on other Gift-users, making them formidable foes.

My Happy Marriage Season 2 Anime Releases Main Trailer

My Happy Marriage Season 2 returns with romance, drama, and supernatural intrigue as Miyo and Kiyoka’s story continues this January 2025.

Although the Usubas were a prominent family in terms of their Gifts, their official business came under crisis, and to save the family, Sumi married into the Saimori family and gave birth to Miyo, who possessed the ability of Dream-Sight. However, although Miyo had a Gift, her mother sealed her powers to ensure Miyo would live a normal life. While Sumi wanted Miyo to grow up without exploitation, this backfired on her as the Saimori family was known for having Gift users. Since Miyo was unable to use her Gift or have Spirit-Sight, she was ostracized and shunned by the family, leading her into a spiral of depression after her mother died.

As Miyo matured, her father married Kanoko, with whom he had a daughter named Kaya. Kaya, the second daughter of this noble lineage, inherited the Gift and the Spirit-Sight ability, enhancing her status. This privilege enabled her and her mother to subject Miyo to verbal and physical mistreatment.

Upon closer inspection, it’s hard to believe that she’s the daughter of a powerful family. A Kimono so shabby that it can’t even be considered second-hand. A terribly thin neck and wrists. Pale and chapped fingers. Dull and damaged hair.

Unfortunately, Miyo did not have anyone she could rely on for support as the previous caretaker, Hana Kanao, had been dismissed by her father, leaving Miyo alone in a home with neglectful and uninvolved parents. Shinichi had never loved Miyo, as he was forced into an arranged marriage by his father to Sumi, and thus, he had to break off his relationship with Kanoko. Due to this, Kanoko deeply hated Miyo, as she referred to Miyo’s mother as a “thief” and thus began to mistreat Miyo, and soon she was nothing more than a servant in her own home.

My Happy Marriage: How To Write An Annoying Character

My Happy Marriage’s newest supporting character is generating tons of buzz for all the wrong reasons.

Sadly, this upbringing with constant harassment and abuse led Miyo to develop low self-esteem, believing herself to be unworthy of becoming the wife of the Kudo family’s head as she had no Gift and believed her looks were subpar. After years of harassment and abuse, constantly being compared to her younger sister, Miyo began to think lowly of herself and also compared herself to her sister, who seemed to excel in everything. To add further insult to her, Miyo’s childhood crush, Tatsuishi Kouji, was also arranged to be married to her younger sister. Although many individuals did not treat Miyo well, Kouji admired and often comforted her.

However, Miyo was soon engaged to Kiyoka Kudo, giving her the ability to leave her abusive household. Although this was a blessing for Miyo, she essentially grew up penniless as her father did not give her an allowance and refused to send her to school. With this, Miyo believed that she should do everything in her power to stay in the good graces of the Kudo, as she would be homeless if the marriage between the two did not work out.

My place and value are gradually fading away. Even in this household, Kaya is held in reverence whilst the way I’m treated is worsening by the day.

Although Kiyoka was cold and aloof, he could see that Miyo had a good heart and had been severely mistreated in the Saimori household. After seeing the shabby clothes she was in, Kiyoka was determined to help Miyo regain her confidence and better herself. Although Miyo was initially slightly intimidated by him, she soon grew to love him and became determined to better herself as her confidence grew now that she was no longer in an abusive household.

What Are Her Supernatural Abilities?

The Dream-Sight Ability Is a Rare and Exceptional Power

Although unbeknownst to her, Miyo has the ability of Dream-Sight. Dream-Sight is the supernatural ability to enter an individual’s dreams and manipulate them, and it also has the ability to view the past and future. As mentioned above, Miyo’s abilities were sealed by her mother, as a Gift-user with this ability was exceptionally powerful and often exploited. Her mother then sealed off her Dream-Sight ability in the Sakura tree, only to be “discovered when the time comes.”

After leaving the Saimori household, Miyo’s Dream-Sight abilities slowly began to manifest in her dreams. Unfortunately, at this time, Miyo was unaware that these were her abilities manifesting and believed them to be nightmares. However, Kiyoka Kudo, the leader of the Anti-Grosqueries Unit and a powerful Gift-user, began to suspect that Miyo may have supernatural powers.

  • Dream-Sight can manipulate and brainwash the dreams of others.
  • It can also function as clairvoyance, warning Miyo of dangers to come.
  • Dream-Sight is only manifested in women within the Usuba family.
  • This ability also allows the user to see the past and the future.

This ability is exceptionally powerful, which justifies why Sumi did not want Miyo to be exploited for her abilities. To use Dream-Sight, the user must psychically be in contact with the individual they wish to use the ability against. Although it’s more of a waiting game, humans can not resist the need to rest, which means all humans are susceptible to this ability. Miyo was born with an exceptional supernatural ability that can easily be used to manipulate others; however, with her kind-hearted nature, she’s unlikely to abuse this power.
