Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is a part of the long running line of Ys games. This game is a re-release for the PS5 and Nintendo Switch, based on Ys: The Oath in Felghana — which was released more than a decade prior for Windows and the PlayStation Portable. That’s not all. Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana serves as a remake of the third mainline entry, Ys 3: Wanderers from Ys — which was released back in 1989. All of which tell an interconnected storyline.
Few games have seen this much attention to have them be completely rebuilt from the ground up to tell the story better than before. While Ys 3 originally was a sidescroller, Oath in Felghana is an action RPG with multiple distinctive camera angles depending on which part of the game the player is actively at.

How Long to Beat Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
The Ys games are one of the best franchises offered by Nihon Falcom, but that doesn’t mean you are in for a particularly lengthy ordeal. The time it will take you to beat Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana will fluctuate depending on many factors, such as what difficulty you play on. For a first-time playthrough, a player is expected to go with normal difficulty, facing off against more enemies than they need to, and exploring around. This default experience will take many players approximately 12 hours to make it through the entire game.
A big contributor to this will be how many attempts players take to overcome boss fights and grinding for experience by fighting every enemy they come across. However, should players choose to cut out doing side quests and run past numerous monster fights, they can shave off a great deal of time from their Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana experience. Playing just the main story without going off the beaten path can shave off over an hour of gameplay time.
Some players might be able to knock this game off their list in under 10 hours. Likewise, exploring every nook and cranny will increase this time. Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is not a lengthy Action RPG experience, nor is it a short-lived adventure. It comfortably fits in the middle to tell the story it sets out to tell without overstaying its welcome. This is why the game doesn’t cost as much as other AAA titles, despite Ys being one of the best Nihon Falcom for players to get into.
Players could shave off even more time if they speed past dialogue, but this is not recommended for first time players who also want to enjoy the game’s story.
The game offers a wide range of optional content, mostly in the form of side quests. Some of these quests will come later in the game, but will have players re-exploring some of the earliest parts of the game. Players will also now have abilities they previously did not have. This lets them gain access to previously inaccessible parts. This can add approximately 3 additional hours for an average playtime of around 15 hours. There are also numerous difficulties and a New Game+ mode for players to replay the game for a greater challenge.
