Summary
- Ghost of Yotei should expand class options, like Elden Ring Nightreign’s 8 classes, for more dynamic gameplay.
- A Legends mode for Ghost of Yotei could consider adding procedurally generated maps for increased challenge and replayability.
- Survival elements like shrinking gameplay areas could enhance a Ghost of Yotei Legends mode experience.
While Ghost of Tsushima alone is an excellent game, its Legends mode has proven to be a worthwhile addition to the base game. In Legends, players cooperate with one another to complete various game modes using one of four distinct character classes. Unlike Ghost of Tsushima‘s single-player campaign, which focuses on historical events, Legends delves into Japanese mythology and sees players battling otherworldly forces, upgrading their gear along the way. Now, with the impending arrival of Ghost of Yotei, one may wonder whether Legends will return and what it might look like. Assuming it does, it may want to keep an eye on FromSoftware’s upcoming cooperative game, Elden Ring Nightreign.
Ghost of Yotei and Elden Ring Nightreign are two completely different games, but if the former were to bring back Ghost of Tsushima‘s Legends mode, the two games would have more in common than one would think. Based on what has been revealed about Elden Ring Nightreign so far, it bears a lot of similarities to Ghost of Tsushima‘s Legends mode, with its cooperative multiplayer focus, class-based gameplay systems, and even its mythological and supernatural elements. However, since much of its gameplay has been revealed ahead of Ghost of Yotei‘s, Elden Ring Nightreign might have a thing or two to teach Ghost of Yotei if it revives Ghost of Tsushima‘s Legends mode.

In its efforts to be historically accurate in the best ways, Ghost of Yotei’s collectibles could draw inspiration from a real Japanese tradition.
What Ghost of Yotei’s Potential Legends Mode Could Learn From Elden Ring Nightreign
Ghost of Yotei’s Legends Mode Could Expand Its Class Offerings
Firstly, a potential Legends mode for Ghost of Yotei could follow in Elden Ring Nightreign‘s footsteps by expanding the class offerings of Tsushima‘s Legends mode. In Elden Ring Nightreign, players will have the option of choosing between eight different characters called “Nightfarers,” each with their own unique abilities and playstyle. Ghost of Tsushima‘s Legends mode, on the other hand, only featured four distinct classes for players to choose from. The more classes that are available, the more players can experiment with different team dynamics, and the more replayable Legends becomes.
Based on Ghost of Yotei‘s setting, a potential Legends mode for the game could feature classes like a shaman, a monk, and a ninja, in addition to the mode’s traditional classes.
Ghost of Yotei’s Legends Mode Could Feature Procedurally Generated Maps
Something else that would be interesting for Ghost of Yotei‘s potential Legends mode to consider would be procedurally generated maps, just like Elden Ring Nightreign. In Elden Ring Nightreign, each game will take place on a procedurally generated map, thereby increasing the game’s challenge and ensuring players will “never experience the same journey twice.” In the same way, a Legends mode for Ghost of Yotei could see players completing each game on a procedurally generated map, thereby increasing the mystery and challenge of each session and, in turn, the game mode’s replayability.
Ghost of Yotei’s Legends Mode Could Introduce Survival Elements
Something else that Elden Ring Nightreign is doing differently than Ghost of Tsushima‘s Legends mode is its addition of survival elements into the mix. Firstly, Elden Ring Nightreign will introduce a “relentless environmental threat” to each session, which is presumably tied to weather of some kind. Secondly, the gameplay area for Elden Ring Nightreign will shrink over time, as it generally does in a battle royale game, encouraging players to be aware of their position on the map at all times. It could be that the environmental threat in each session is directly tied to the gameplay area, but that remains to be seen.
Perhaps a potential Legends mode for Ghost of Yotei could introduce Elden Ring Nightreign-esque survival elements of its own, whether that be a dangerous weather system or a shrinking gameplay area. Of course, this would mean the size of the map in each Legends session would need to be considerable in order to justify the presence of a wall, but weather, at the very least, wouldn’t be so far-fetched. At the very least, if Ghost of Yotei revives Tsushima‘s Legends mode, an expanded roster of classes more like what Elden Ring Nightreign has to offer, and perhaps even the addition of procedurally generated maps would be a great way to improve the experience.
