Fantastic Four Star Confirms They Deliver Their Character’s Iconic Catchphrase

Marvel fans will soon see the rebooted version of Fantastic Four. One of the cast members said they delivered their character’s popular tagline.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps was first announced at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. Marvel Studios released casting details on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024, with Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. The production started in late July 2024 at Pinewood Studios in London and wrapped up four months later. Many are excited about the upcoming film as it is expected to offer a fresh take on the iconic Marvel’s First Family. However, some familiar things might be featured too, as one of the major cast members confirmed they delivered their character’s famous catchphrase during filming.

Fantastic Family: First Steps gave a nod to a past MCU project based on its set location.

Moss-Bachrach spoke about the anticipated movie when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week. During the interview, the host was privy to learn as many details about the film before its release. So, Jimmy Kimmel asked Moss-Bachrach if he delivered the Thing’s famous catchphrase, “It’s clobberin’ time.” “I slipped in there a couple of times, we’ll see, we’ll see what happens,” Moss-Bachrach replied. “I don’t have a final cut on this one, so we’ll see,” he added. Kimmel appeared victorious after getting some juicy details about the MCU film from the actor. “I’m gonna tell you, you gave me something and I appreciate it. You gave me something that you probably shouldn’t have,” the host said. Moss-Bachrach conceded, adding, “Yeah, and now it’s going to be a long ride home. Yeah.”

In the early part of the interview, Kimmel tried to persuade Moss-Bachrach to reveal if Robert Downey Jr. would appear in the film. There were rumors that Downey Jr., who used to portray Iron Man, would make his debut as Doctor Doom in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. So, the host, fishing for information, asked if the rumors were true that Moss-Bachrach and RDJ became friends on set to confirm the latter’s attendance during the production. However, the Punisher actor refused to give in. “It’s not gonna happen. I’ve been through rigorous media training,” Moss-Bachrach told Kimmel, warning the host that he would never spill any information about the film. “I know, but so have other people. So, I have Tom Holland, and he always gives me something,” Kimmel jokingly responded. Holland, who plays Spider-Man in the MCU, has a reputation for spilling major spoilers for Marvel movies.

The Thing’s iconic catchphrase, “It’s clobberin’ time,” encapsulates Ben Grimm’s character because it embodies his spirit and sense of humor. He delivers the line to show his confidence and determination when overwhelmed. It has become synonymous with his actions or serves as a battle cry before the Thing jumps into a fight. Additionally, it adds a touch of humor and breaks the tension during dramatic moments.

Fans will definitely love to hear Ben shout the catchphrase on the big screen.
