  • A release date for the feature is currently unknown, but a major content update is coming later this month.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 developer Treyarch Studios has announced it’s working on bringing back the ability to track challenges in the game’s UI, a feature fans were disappointed to see wasn’t carried over from 2023’s Modern Warfare 3. The release date for the feature is currently unconfirmed, but with Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 set to arrive later this month, fans might not be waiting too long to see challenge tracking appear.

On Thursday, January 9, Treyarch released a new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, making a handful of improvements to both Multiplayer and Zombies. Multiple bug fixes to the game’s UI and audio were addressed in the patch, as well as an increase in XP granted for the recently added Red Light, Green Light game mode in Multiplayer. However, it was Zombies that saw some big changes in the most recent patch, as Treyarch reverted a controversial change that was introduced in a January 3 update. After massive backlash from the Zombies community, Treyarch has removed the extended time between rounds and the delay between zombies spawning after five looped rounds in Directed Mode.

Treyarch Confirms New Black Ops 6 Feature in Development

While it wasn’t mentioned in the latest patch notes, Treyarch has responded to a fan on Twitter who was asking for the studio to add a way to track challenges while in a Multiplayer match. Treyarch replied to the request and said that the feature is “currently in the works.” The ability to track challenges was a popular feature in 2023’s Modern Warfare 3, so fans were left massively disappointed when it did not carry over to Black Ops 6, despite both titles being bundled under the Call of Duty HQ app.

With plenty of players still working towards Black Ops 6‘s lucrative Mastery camos, the ability to track challenges while in-game is going to be a game changer. Assuming that the feature is going to work similarly to Modern Warfare 3, players will soon be able to select the challenge that they are attempting to complete, such as one of the many headshot camos for Black Ops 6‘s weapons, and see a live tracker in-game when they bring up the UI. This will allow players to know how close they are to completing a challenge without having to wait until the end of a game.

In a separate response to a different fan, Treyarch also confirmed a massive change to Black Ops 6 Zombies is also in the works. One fan requested that Treyarch add the ability to have separate HUD settings for Multiplayer and Zombies so players don’t have to keep changing their HUD when switching between the modes, to which Treyarch responded by saying that this feature is “also in the works.”
