Of the three classes in Atlyss, there are two that can make use of unique shields that are only able to be used by their class: Fighters and Mystics. Each shield has different stats and offers different benefits, meaning that the most useful of them will depend on your character and build.

Demicrypt Buckler
Block Damage Threshold: 7
The Demicrypt Buckler is a level 6 shield that can be acquired from chests in the second difficulty level of the Sanctum Catacombs. This is one of the earlier shields that can be acquired in the game, and a good upgrade from the more basic Wooden Shield and Crypt Buckler, two shields which can be found in the first difficulty level of the Sanctum Catacombs.
The Demicrypt Buckler can alternatively be purchased at Skrit’s Sikrit Market for 1,000 Crowns. If you want something better than a wooden shield early in the game, this is your best option.
7
Iron Shield
Block Damage Threshold: 8
The Iron Shield, a level 7 item, can only be obtained by defeating a Golem in the Crescent Keep. It can be used by any class, which makes it a good choice for a variety of playstyles. It can also be purchased in the second tier of Sally’s Store or Skrit’s Sikrit Market.

The Iron Shield offers better outright defense than the Demicrypt Buckler, but has a lower percentage to block incoming damage. This ensures that both shields have a place in the early stages of the game.
6
Iris Shield
Block Damage Threshold: 6
The Iris Shield is a level 12 item that can only be used by the Mystic class. It is less defensive than the Iron or Demicrypt shields, but also increases the magic power and magic defense of the player. It can be found in chests in the Crescent Keep, or be purchased in Skrit’s Sikrit Market.
These stats make it a less accessible item than the other more basic shields, but allow magic-casting characters to withstand more damage in the heat of combat.
5
Omen Shield
Block Damage Threshold: 9
The level 12 Omen Shield can only be used by the Fighter class and is almost a direct upgrade to the Iron Shield. It has a higher block damage threshold and a chance to block damage that is equal to the Demicrypt shield, but compared to the Iron Shield it offers one less point of defense.
That still makes is an ideal choice for Fighters, who will be up close during fights. The Omen Shield can only be obtained in chests in the Crescent Keep.
4
Nethercrypt Shield
Block Damage Threshold: 10
The Nethercrypt Shield, a level 14 item, is able to be equipped by any class. It has a very large block damage threshold of ten, but a lower chance to block incoming damage. To offset this, it also gives five points of defense and two points of magic defense to any character who uses it.
If you don’t want to pay the high price at Skrit’s Sikrit Market for this shield, it can also be obtained in the highest difficulty level of Sanctum Catacombs from poltergeists or chests.
3
Mithril Shield
Block Damage Threshold: 14
The level 16 Mithril Shield is the last of the shields that can be used by any class, making it an accessible option for those investing in their defense. The chance to block incoming damage is lower than that of the Nethercrypt Shield, but comes with a variety of other bonuses.
Magic Power, Defense, and Magic Defense will all be boosted by using this shield. It can be purchased from the third tier of Sally’s Shop or found in the pots of Crescent Grove or the chests of Tuul Valley.
2
Rustweary Shield
Block Damage Threshold: 20
The Rustweary Shield is one of two level 19 shields in the game. Exclusive to the Fighter class, the Rustweary Shield has the highest block damage threshold of any shield in the game at 20 points. Unlike any of the other shields in the game, equipping the the Rustweary Shield will also increase your damage output by five points.
The shield will also increase your defense by 13 points and your magic defense by five. It can be obtained in the Crescent Grove from Deadwood enemies or from chests.
1
Rustwise Shield
Block Damage Threshold: 16
Similar to the Rustweary Shield, the Rustwise Shield can also be obtained in the Crescent Grove dungeon from Deadwoods or chests. Just like the Rustweary Shield is for the Fighter class, the Rustwise Shield is for the Mystic class.
As you would suspect, this shield will increase your magic power and magic defense as well as your mana. With a block damage threshold of 17 the defensive stats are lesser than the Rustweary Shield, but for the Mystic class it will still be a useful tool.
