Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to be one of the most popular RPG titles at the moment, and it appears that others are attempting to capitalize on such success. Fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 were surprised to come across an apparent mobile version of the game, but the app in question has turned out to be a massive scam attempting to draw in players.
Originally reported by VideoGamer, the appearance of Baldur’s Gate 3 on the Apple iOS store both confused and excited fans of Larian Studios’ hit title. Even better, the game was listed as free on the storefront. Unfortunately, once the app was downloaded, it quickly became clear that this supposed mobile port of Baldur’s Gate 3 is far from legit, as it asks users for a hefty monthly subscription fee. Additionally, the scam app’s terms of service agreement were troubling.
The developer attached to the Baldur’s Gate 3 scam is called “Dmytro Turuk.” However, when searching for this name and the fake port in the Apple iOS store, neither the developer nor the app appear now.

- The terms of service state that the app will record one’s data, including IP address.
It’s unclear what other personal information the app may have recorded, but for those who downloaded the fake game, it’s an alarming push into one’s data. Unfortunately, this scam port has done a good job of making it look legit. The Apple iOS store page for this Baldur’s Gate 3 rip-off showcased a collection of screenshots from the game but with an edited mobile HUD on the images. The success of Baldur’s Gate 3 made it one of 2023’s best-selling games, but it has yet to come to mobile, if ever. Although a mobile version of Baldur’s Gate 3 would likely be a huge hit, Larian Studios has never confirmed such plans for the RPG.
The app was listed in the Apple iOS store as “Baldurs Gate 3 – Mobile Turuk.”
So Far, Only Apple Users Have Faced This Scam
As far as it’s known, this only seems to be an issue on the Apple iOS storefront, as it has yet to be found on the Android store. However, it could still pop up at any moment, so Android users may want to keep their eyes peeled for any similar-looking apps or a developer of the same name. Baldur’s Gate 3‘s impressive reach makes it an easy title to draw attention to, and it clearly worked, at least for a short amount of time.
This May Not Be the End of Baldur’s Gate 3 Scams
Sadly, it’s possible that these types of scams will continue. Whether another copycat arrives days from now or months into the future, any Baldur’s Gate 3 listings on mobile storefronts need to be approached as scams until Larian Studios reveals a mobile port of its own. Baldur’s Gate 3 has a passionate following, and seeing such a beloved game listed on mobile stores for free is enticing. This makes it completely understandable why one would download it, even if just out of curiosity. However, this scam port serves as an important reminder to research before downloading anything that seems to be too good to be true.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
For now, the Baldur’s Gate 3 mobile scam appears to have been dealt with by Apple, but a similar fake port could strike again. As Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to grow, it makes sense for some to want to profit from that attention, but it is ultimately unfair to the fan base.
