Thanks to an accidental Steam page update, Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ first expansion, Claws of Awaji, has been confirmed to include a new region and more than 10 hours of content.
With all of the financial trouble that Ubisoft has been going through over the past year, it’s been clear for a while now that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a very important game for the studio. So much so that it’s not only been confirmed to come to Steam from day one, but also had its early access treatment revoked and even suffered a substantial delay out of 2024.

Delaying Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will Unlikely Save It From Its Fate
Despite Ubisoft’s supposedly best intentions with delaying Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it may not be enough to rescue it from its likely result.
That delay was just the first, though, as Ubisoft confirmed yesterday that Shadows is being pushed back again from February to March of this year. While it’s a shame to see such an anticipated game get delayed so close to launch, the update did at least have a silver lining, as Ubisoft also accidentally revealed details about the first expansion.
Ubisoft Accidentally Reveals Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ First DLC Pack
As reported by Insider Gaming, the information about Shadows’ first big piece of DLC came from the game’s Steam page, which was updated with a new pre-order message following its delay. The message reveals that the expansion will be called Claws of Awaji and will let players travel to a brand-new region of the map.
That’s not all, though, as the description also suggests that the DLC will feature over 10 hours of additional content, making it a fairly sizeable addition to the base game. Claws of Awaji will also let players unlock a new weapon type, new skills for Yasuke and Naoe, new gear, and new abilities.
It seems that Ubisoft didn’t want this information to get out so early, as it’s been completely removed from the game’s Steam page as of the time of writing. Since it’s already been leaked, it’s likely that we’ll get an official announcement regarding the DLC’s content soon, especially since the game now launches in a matter of months.
For now, though, we’ll have to wait for Ubisoft to formally announce and show off the Claws of Awaji expansion. It’s not clear if we can expect more DLC after the first one, as the message only notes that it’s an “upcoming expansion” and doesn’t specify if there will be more.
