WoW Has Good News For Players Who Missed an Important 20th Anniversary Event Achievement

Summary

  • World of Warcraft players can find Alyx in Dornogal to start a mystery quest for the Detective title.
  • Search for 11 missing Celebration Crates with clues from Alyx’s board in World of Warcraft.
  • Moving Alyx ensures players can still earn the Detective title after the anniversary event.

World of Warcraft has moved Alyx, the NPC in charge of the Guest Relation mystery questlines from the 20th anniversary celebration, to Dornogal, where they still accept missing Celebration Crates. Though the Guest Relations questline itself is no longer available, this has ensured World of Warcraft players can still obtain the Detective title – and begin the hunt for the elusive Felcycle mount – indefinitely.

The 20th anniversary event for World of Warcraft has come and gone, taking with it all the activities, rewards, and buffs fans enjoyed for almost three months. The Caverns of Time have returned to normal as well, with all the NPCs that had populated the celebration venue disappearing along with the decorations.

Now that World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 is on the Public Test Realm, players get a hands-on preview of the new character select screen customizations.

However, one of these NPCs isn’t actually gone. Alyx – the NPC who players help during the Guest Relations mystery questlines – has moved to the hot springs northwest of the Delver’s Headquarters building in Dornogal, leading up to the Foundation Hall. Sporting a new “Volunteer Event Coordinator, Among Other Things” title, they also brought their trusty board of notes that hint at the locations of Celebration Crates hidden around the world. Players who find all 11 of these hidden objects can return them to Alyx in Dornogal to obtain the Crate Insurance Agent, No Crate Left Behind, and Azeroth’s Greatest Detective achievements – and more importantly, the Detective title, which unlocks the ability to start the mystery that leads World of Warcraft fans to Incognitro, the Indecipherable Felcycle mount.

Earning the Detective Title After the WoW Anniversary

  • Find Alyx, a Lightforged Draenei NPC, and their board of clues in Dornogal.
    • They can be found between the Delver’s Headquarters and the stairs leading to the Foundation Hall.
  • Follow the clues from the notes on the board near them to find the 11 missing Celebration Crates in World of Warcraft.
    • Players must be level 10 in order to start Celebration Crate quests, but cannot go to Dornogal until level 68.
  • Turn in six crates to earn Crate Insurance Agent, and 11 crates to earn No Crate Left Behind, Azeroth’s Greatest Detective, and the Detective title.

Players previously knew that the Incognitro secret quests would be available after the anniversary event, but because the Detective title is required to get the Dalaran Survivor in Dornogal to start the mystery, many assumed they would have to get the Azeroth’s Greatest Detective achievement before it ended. Moving Alyx to Donorgal, and allowing fans to turn in Celebration Crates indefinitely, ensures no players will ever be fully locked out of obtaining this rare mount.

Unfortunately, the rest of the Guest Relations quests from WoW‘s 20th anniversary are no longer available, as most relied heavily on the event grounds. This means the Assistant to the Assistant Guest Relations Manager and I Saved the Party and All I Got Were These Lousy Hats achievements can no longer be completed, and their Thinking Cap transmogs are now unobtainable. It seems unlikely that World of Warcraft will ever bring back this particular storyline, though it may add alternative ways to earn the rewards in the future.
