There are a lot of support gems available in Path of Exile 2. Rather than linking them to skill gems on your gear (like in the first game), you’ll attach these support gems to a skill gem that you have socketed in your skill screen.

Path Of Exile 2: How To Increase Spirit
Summon an army of undead minions, empower your attacks with auras, and much more by scaling your Spirit.
Path of Exile 2 does a pretty good of helping you pick the support skill gem that works best with the selected skill. When you have an uncut gem, you’ll be recommending a few options, but you can also choose other support skills to cut the gem into. Here, we are going to take a look at the best support gems out there.
8
Arcane Tempo
First up, we have Arcane Tempo. This support gem doesn’t shake up the game too much, but if you feel like your cast time is a bit slow, then this gem proves to be useful. With Arcane Tempo socketed into a skill, cast time will be increased by 25 percent.
This is perfect if you favor a skill that has a relatively long cast time. As noted in support gem descriptions, you can only have one Arcane Tempo in your build at a time, so use it wisely! The cast speed boost is definitely noticeable once you socket it into a skill.
7
Unleash
Unleash is a support gem that has several effects. For every 200 percent of cast time, the supported spell will gain a seal, with two total seals possible. The support gem also notes that supported spells are unsealed when cast, with the effects reoccurring for each seal lost.
Finally, the supported skill will deal 50 percent less damage when reoccurring. So, what does all of this mean? Visually, it will look like you are casting the skill two times in quick succession when using it. For example, if you shoot out a fiery projectile, two will be fired. This, of course, is helpful for skills that you use frequently, especially those with numerous projectiles.

Mastery Support Gems
Rather than just being one type of gem, this entry encompasses several, which you can find below.
- Chaos Mastery
- Cold Mastery
- Fire Mastery
- Lightning Mastery
- Minion Mastery
- Physical Mastery
Each gem here will increase the level of the supported skill by one. For example, the Chaos Mastery will provide one level to the supported Chaos skill. Essentially, this makes the supported skill a little bit better. When combined with other support gems, these can really pack a punch.
5
Infusion Support Gems
Continuing with broader gem types, we have Infusion support gems. There are five of the game, which you can find below.
- Fire Infusion
- Lightning Infusion
- Cold Infusion
- Chaos Infusion
Each of these support gems will cause supported skills to gain 25 percent of damage as extra elemental damage (depending on the gem type), but deal 50 percent less elemental damage for the other types. This balance includes fire, lighting, and cold. For example. Cold Infusion will deal more cold damage and less fire/lightning damage.
Chaos Infusion works slightly differently. This support gem still increases Chaos damage, but it causes a 50 percent decrease in any other type of damage. Overall, these gems are great if a supported skill deals with just one type of elemental damage.
Remember, support gems only apply to the skill that it is socketed to. This won’t increase or decrease your elemental damage for every skill that you use.
4
Jagged Ground
Jagged Ground is a simple support gem that gives you a 50 percent chance to create Jagged Ground, which lasts for four seconds. Jagged Ground is an effect that slows enemies in the area by 20 percent. This skill is great for melee builds, especially since it only supports Slam skills.

Path Of Exile 2 Vs. Diablo 4: Which Game Is Better?
Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4 are both fantastic games, but which takes the win?
Slam skills are a type of melee attack that causes an AoE of damage on the ground. This is still considered melee damage, but you don’t actually hit enemies with your weapon directly.
3
Conduction
Next up, we have Conduction. This support gem has a simple description; it will increase your chances to shock by 100 percent. This supports skills that hit enemies directly. When shocked, enemies will take more damage for a short period of time.
Conduction comes in handy in a wide range of scenarios. While you can really increase your damage on elemental spellcasters, Conduction comes in handy with skills like Galvanic Shards. Don’t underestimate the power of lightning damage!
2
Brutality
Brutality is a good choice for those of you who deal physical damage. With this support gem, you’ll be able to increase your physical damage by 35 percent. Of course, there is a downside; the supported skill will deal no chaos or elemental damage.
If the supported skill doesn’t rely on chaos or elemental damage, then there is basically no downside to using this! Use this wisely though, as there are other support gems that add chaos/elemental damage to your skills. You don’t want to accidentally cancel out any support gems that you have equipped.
1
Wildshards
Last but not least, we have Wildshards. This supports skills that fire projectiles, which is quite a lot. With Wildshards, you’ll have a 20 percent chance to fire eight more projectiles in a circle.
It should go without saying, but this is incredibly helpful. While 20 percent means that the support gem isn’t guaranteed to activate, it’s still worth the chance. Wildshards is quite versatile, since many classes use some sort of projectile.
