The Best One For All Users In My Hero Academia

The Best One For All Users In My Hero Academia

One of the central points of interest in My Hero Academia is the all-powerful, transferrable Quirk, One For All. By the time it was passed on to Midoriya Izuku, the Quirk had gone through eight users in all, growing in strength each time it was transferred.

Who are the best students in My Hero Academia’s class 1-A?

Although its origins were a bit straightforward and somewhat vague in the earlier seasons, One For All is explored more with each season. Not only were the Quirks of the past users revealed, but their identities, backstories, and (mostly) tragic fates as well.

9

Shinomori Hikage

Fourth Wielder

Hikage Shinomori appears in the internal conscious realm of One For All.

Unlike the other wielders of One For All, Shinomori Hikage was the only one who resolutely avoided confrontation with All For One. As the fourth generation user, Hikage was realistic about his situation and knew he had no chance of winning against All For One.

Hikage chose to increase the power of One For All for the next user to build upon. But Hikage noticed how much One For All affected him, aging his body so rapidly to the point he died of old age at 40. His circumstances helped the former and future wielders realise that only a Quirkless person could bear the burden of One For All effectively.

8

Bruce

Third Wielder

Bruce was once a member of Kudo’s resistance group and was his right-hand man. He lived during the early days of Quirks and the subsequent turmoil that came after, and was extremely opposed to All For One and what he stood for.

Despite his initial reluctance to accept Midoriya as the next One For All user, Bruce came around after Shigaraki Yoichi talked to him. He even advised and mentored Midoriya on using his Quirk, Fa Jin, which can build up and store kinetic energy in the body to boost one’s speed or strength.

7

Kudo

Second Wielder

Kudo wears a pensive look on his face.

Before obtaining One For All, Kudo was the leader of a resistance force determined to kill All For One. Despite having a strong moral compass, he showed a ruthless streak after admitting to killing others to accomplish his end goal.

Upon meeting Yoichi for the first time, Kudo chooses to spare and save him instead of killing him due to being All For One’s brother. Kudo was not meant to receive One For All, accidentally becoming the second user due to being splattered with Yoichi’s blood. He was killed by All For One, but not before passing on the Quirk to Bruce.

6

Tayutai En

Sixth Wielder

Once known through his Pro-Hero alias, Smoke-Eater, Tayutai En received One For All from Banjo, who was killed by All For One soon after. All For One attempts to steal One For All from En, but fights back and gives One For All to Shimura Nana by handing over some strands of his hair.

En has a Smokescreen Quirk, which grants him the ability to produce clouds of purple smoke. Midoriya used Smokescreen on multiple occasions, such as against Lady Nagant, with En popping in to advise Midoriya on how to use his Quirk.

5

Banjo Daigoro

Fifth Wielder

Banjo Daigoro talks animatedly.

Also known as the Pro-Hero Lariat, the gruff and animated Banjo became acquainted with Shinomori Hikage, whom he described as an oddball. Eventually, One For All was passed on to him. He fought All For One but died of his injuries after becoming buried under debris.

Banjo had the Quirk, Blackwhip, allowing him to release black tendrils from his body and control them. His Quirk is the first among the past wielders to manifest in Midoriya Izuku, and he was quick to reveal himself to Midoriya and lecture him to control Blackwhip.

4

Nana Shimura

Seventh Wielder

Shimura Nana wears an angry appearance.

Shimura Nana was Toshinori Yagi’s (or All Might) mentor and Shigaraki Tomura’s grandmother. She was the first to choose a definitive successor for One For All, training Yagi alongside her best friend, Gran Torino.

She loved her son, Kotaro, but made the unfortunate decision to leave him due to the mounting threat of All For One. This decision backfired against the Heroes, allowing All For One to swoop in and turn Shimura Tenko into Shigaraki Tomura. Despite what befell her family, she still loved them and was overcome by Midoriya’s decision to save Shigaraki.

3

Toshinori Yagi

Eight Wielder

Toshinori Yagi, better known as the Symbol of Peace All Might, is the penultimate wielder of One For All. He is the longest user of One For All, having had the Quirk for over 40 years. Like Shimura Nana, Yagi chose a successor to receive One For All.

Since he is originally Quirkless, he was able to utilise One For All to the fullest, aiding in creating the decades of peace we saw in the earlier seasons of the show. Yagi was also the first wielder to deal extreme physical damage to All For One, though at the cost of his own health. Although One For All eventually left him, that didn’t stop Yagi from joining the fight in the Final War.

2

Midoriya Izuku

Ninth Wielder

The main protagonist and the last wielder of One For All, Midoriya Izuku was given the Quirk by All Might after a heroic display of selflessness. Although he was injured severely each time he used One For All, he was able to control it after interning with Gran Torino.

9 Best Rivalries In My Hero Academia

From childhood ‘friends’ to bitter archenemies.

Out of all the wielders, Midoriya is the only one who was able to unlock and use the Quirks of One For All’s past wielders. He becomes embroiled in the fight against Shigaraki Tomura and All For One, empathising with Tomura and resolving to save his life instead of killing him outright.

1

Shigaraki Yoichi

First Wielder

Quirk(s)

  • Quirk Bestowal
  • One For All

The one who started it all, Shigaraki Yoichi was All For One’s younger twin brother. He was sickly and weak in constitution, but that didn’t stop him from fighting back against his brother’s megalomania. Yoichi was forcibly given One For All by his brother and was eventually killed by him.

Although initially thought to be Quirkless, Yoichi could pass on his Quirk, which melded with One For All. His consciousness lives on within One For All, the heroic spirit and kindness he had is shown when he interacts with Midoriya. He doesn’t seem to hate or resent his brother, instead seeming sad about how it all turned out.
