In Pokemon TCG Pocket, the version of the card game for mobile devices developed by Creatures Inc. and DeNA, energy fuels everything you can do. Instead of drawing energy cards from your deck like in the original card game, one energy is generated for you to use on any of the cards that you currently have on your bench or in your active slot.

Energy is required to attack, and more powerful attacks will require more energy to use. Most decks in Pokemon TCG Pocket use a single type of energy, but some decks require multiple types to great effect, and up to three types of energy can be used per deck.

Lapras ex And Butterfree
Water/Grass
When played together, Lapras ex and Butterfree can allow you to heal massive amounts of damage. Every time Lapras ex attacks with Bubble Drain, it will be healed for twenty points of damage.
Butterfree can then be used to passively heal twenty damage to each of your Pokemon from the bench, ensuring a steady supply of healing for your entire team. This will allow you to heal incoming damage faster than your opponent can deal it, at the expense of having low offensive potential.

Eevee
Fire/Lightning/Water
Evee is a Colorless-type Pokemon that can be evolved into three different forms: Flareon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon. Each of these evolved forms uses a different type of energy, and having all three in your deck will allow you to respond to various situations.

This deck can be supplemented in many ways with other Colorless-type Pokémon, such as Ditto. Still, Eevee’s multiple forms and flexible evolution line ensure that you will always have a quick path to executing your strategy.

Persian And Mawile
Metal/Colorless
Mawile and Persian are an unexpected combination that disrupts your opponent’s strategy and leaves them helpless when played successfully. Persian’s Shadow Claw attack will allow you to flip a coin, and if you flip heads then your opponent will have to discard a random card from their hand.
This will limit their ability to play new cards, and when Mawile attacks with Crunch, one energy will be discarded from your opponent’s active Pokemon at random, further limiting the offensive ability of the Pokemon in the opponent’s active slot or on the bench.

Arbok And Pidgeot
Darkness/Colorless
Having both Pidgeot and Arbok in your deck will allow you to control the flow of battle. Pidgeot’s ability, Drive Off, allows you to send your opponent’s active Pokemon back to their bench. This ability can be used while Pidgeot is on the bench.

Once their active Pokemon has been switched out, attacking with Arbok will trap whatever Pokemon is currently active. Arbok’s attack, Corner, disables their ability to retreat. This deck relies on two separate evolution lines but can be very powerful once they are both on the board.

Wigglytuff ex
Colorless/Any
Sleep is one of the most powerful and hard-to-counter status effects in Pokémon TCG Pocket. When a Pokemon has been inflicted with Sleep, they won’t be able to retreat or attack until they are evolved or the opponent flips heads.
This makes Wigglytuff a good addition to any deck, adding the ability to inflict Sleep to decks with other useful status effects. This can be paired with cards that inflict Paralysis, like Eelektross, cards that inflict Poison, like Weezing, or other cards that also inflict Sleep, like Hypno.

Golem And Druddigon
Fighting/Fire/Water
Druddigon is a powerful new card that was added to the game with the Mythical Island pack and is a good addition to many decks. When paired with Golem, you have two Pokemon with high health that can be hard for the opponent to deal with.

With the Guard Press attack, Golem will take thirty less damage from all enemy attacks. When Druddigon is attacked, its Rough Skin ability will inflict twenty damage back towards the opponent’s active Pokemon. Having these two cards in your deck will enable an impenetrable defense.

Dragonite
Water/Lightning
Dragonite is one of the most complex decks to use in Pokemon TCG Pocket, but also one of the most powerful. It is capable of dealing massive amounts of damage but also relies on luck to use it effectively.
Dragonite requires at least one water and one lightning energy to use, but if you can manage to apply those successfully then you can access the powerful Draco Meteor attack. Draco Meteor has a chance of targeting any Pokemon your player has on the field up to four times, dealing fifty damage each time.

Druddigon And Gyarados ex
Fire/Water
Gyarados ex has become one of the most powerful cards in the game since the release of Mythical Island and is only made more powerful with the addition of Druddigon. The ability to discard one random energy from any Pokeémon on the field might not seem useful, but the high health and high damage of Gyarados make the appeal easy to see.
Druddigon can be played in the active spot until Gyarados has enough energy to attack, with the Rough Skin ability dealing an extra twenty damage to any attacking Pokémon.
