Tails the Fox

On the surface, Tails might not seem one of the strongest Sonic characters but he has a lot of strength hidden under his outwardly gentle appearance. As well as being able to consistently keep up with Sonic’s speed, Tails can fight opponents with his two tails. Spinning his tails rapidly means he can fly, and he possesses the physical strength to lift and carry his teammates too.
Tails has even fought the likes of Chaos and even Dr. Eggman by himself, as seen in the Sonic Adventure series, wherein he experiences character growth and learns to rely on himself and not always on Sonic. Tails can even obtain a Super Form, giving him enhanced physical capabilities.

Rouge the Bat

Despite the fact she doesn’t have a Super Form like other characters on this list, Rouge has time and again proven her strength. She has extremely powerful kicking ability, even smashing through rocks or sending opponents flying. As well as impressive abilities in her legs and feet, Rouge’s wings are powerful, and she can lift Shadow and Omega, and even the Master Emerald, and carry them in the air.
In Sonic Adventure 2, she was able to match Knuckles and fight him to a standstill. Rouge’s great love of gems is what has mostly driven her, meaning she has the ferocity to match her impressive and unique kind of powers.

Amy-Rose The Hedgehog

Amy is an undeniably strong character, proved by the incredible use of her iconic Piko Piko hammer, which she has consistently wielded with great brute force. A testament to her strength is how many ways she can use her hammer, including wielding it at great speeds. From smashing enemies head-on to propelling herself into the air, Amy can also swing it round so fast that it creates a whirlwind.
Amy even hit Knuckles into a tree as seen in Sonic Generations. On top of all this, she’s also got an incredibly strong mindset and never gives up in the face of danger or difficulty. To many fans, Amy might not seem that strong compared to her friends, which makes her strength rather underrated.

Silver The Hedgehog
He May Be Naive, But Silver Has Some Unique Abilities

The iconic silver hedgehog from Crisis City has a unique kind of power not seen in the series before. With his telekinesis, Silver can manipulate objects in his surroundings to his advantage, even using them to attack his enemies. He can also create energy bursts which succeed in trapping Sonic. Silver is also able to fly using his powers.

Silver’s strength is matched by his overall optimistic worldview which motivates him to fight for justice and restore peace to his world, which in the case of his debut game Sonic ‘06, was by defeating Iblis. Silver can even reach a Super Form, as seen when he makes a final stand against Solaris alongside Sonic and Shadow. In the original Sonic Rivals, Silver was included alongside three of the series’ most powerful characters; the fact he was deemed able to go toe to toe with them proves how strong he is.

Mighty the Armadillo
A Swift And Strong Opponent

Despite being a lesser-known character among the franchise’s large and colorful roster, Mighty can stand toe to toe with characters like Knuckles. He’s capable of lifting and throwing incredibly heavy items, and fighting through waves of opponents with brute force. Mighty can send others flying with a simple fist bump, and is another character able to possess a Super State.
Mighty is also known for being smarter than Knuckles, with quicker reflexes and greater speed. He’s also an incredibly determined character who has amazing base strength which he seeks to grow.

Blaze The Cat

Blaze could easily be named as the Sonic series’ strongest female character, and this is due to both her incredible fire powers as well as her determined and strong-willed attitude. With her fire powers, Blaze demonstrates herself as a formidable opponent. She both attacks and defends herself with these incredible powers. What’s more, Blaze can even obtain a Super Form by utilizing the Sol Emeralds, making her even more powerful.

A lone warrior for most of his life, Knuckles is the dedicated guardian of the Master Emerald, making him a stoic character by nature. His ferocity is something he matches with incredible brute strength thanks to his very strong fists.
Knuckles’ strength is the trademark aspect of his character, and he’s always listed as a Power Type in various games, such as Sonic Heroes and the Olympics spin-off series. On top of that, he excels at rock climbing, gliding and can punch through thick rock. Knuckles also has a Super Form and even a Hyper Form, pushing his already incredible strength to new heights. Whilst Sonic is known for sheer speed, Knuckles is known for sheer brute strength.

The lead character himself is clearly also one of the most powerful in the series. Thanks to his incredible super speed, which he can also channel into a variety of different attacks, Sonic can outclass his opponents in many ways. Sonic has faced many dreadful and powerful enemies in his time and has shown great strength in prevailing, though many times not alone but with the help of his friends, as seen in games like Sonic ’06 and Sonic Frontiers.
As well as extremely powerful speed, Sonic also has very quick reflexes and combat power, as well as his iconic Super and Hyper forms, which push his already great abilities to even greater heights. He’s taken on many different forms across the series, with some like the Werehog form increasing his upper body strength.

Shadow the Hedgehog
The Ultimate Life Form Has Ultimate Power

The fact he was created as the “Ultimate Life Form” is testament enough that Shadow possesses an incredible type of strength which he uses in many ways. From being able to match Sonic’s speed, to his own brute fighting strength, Shadow possesses so much innate power that he wears Inhibitor Rings to limit it. Combined with his intensity, sheer determination and anger, his overall ferocity is increased.
Shadow is able to take on a Super Form like Sonic, and can even gain control over time and space with his signature Chaos Control ability. Shadow has taken down the likes of Black Doom all by himself, and he can utilize other Chaos, and more recently, Doom Powers which are both capable of obliterating many enemies at once. With quick reflexes and many abilities, Shadow also has something no other character does: immortality, rendering him the strongest in the series.
