No matter your personal opinions on gaming subscription services, there’s no escaping the fact that Game Pass represents some pretty amazing value. While there’s no guarantee that any of your favorite games in the library will hang around forever, you’re still getting access to heaps of titles, day-one additions, and extra bonuses and perks, too, depending on which tier you’re on. To see exactly how last year’s lineup of new Game Pass games stacked up, I’ve crunched the numbers on everything added to PC Game Pass in 2024, which was a collection of 137 games with a value of just over $4,800.
Having had my head buried in all of this year’s Game Pass announcement posts and spreadsheets for most of this week, I’ve collated all of the new Game Pass games that PC players had access to last year. If you were to take their US Microsoft Store price at the time each game was added to PC Game Pass, the total value of 2024’s lineup would be $4,812.63 USD.
I’m afraid I couldn’t find the time to do exact storefront totals for other currencies, but converting that amount with today’s exchange rates will give you figures of around £3,924 / €4,670 / $6,924 CAN / $7,769 AUD.
However, you’ve got to also factor in the cost of your subscription. This isn’t an exact science as monthly prices were changed in the middle of last year and new subscribers can often bag a few weeks for just a dollar. But if you were to take the current cost of PC Game Pass ($11.99 per month, which works out as $143.88 a year) and subtract it from the figure above, that’s a net value of $4,668.75.
Below you can find a breakdown of each month’s PC Game Pass offering.
Month | Games added | Day-one releases | Value ($USD) |
January | 13 | 3 | $462.87 |
February | 15 | 1 | $486.85 |
March | 12 | 2 | $476.88 |
April | 17 | 5 | $587.83 |
May | 13 | 4 | $428.87 |
June | 14 | 1 | $418.86 |
July | 12 | 5 | $447.88 |
August | 5 | 2 | $174.95 |
September | 12 | 6 | $449.88 |
October | 9 | 2 | $312.91 |
November | 9 | 4 | $349.91 |
December | 6 | 2 | $214.94 |
Of course, these figures are illustrative of the total value added to PC Game Pass in 2024, and is in no way indicative of the value it gave to you, personally – there’s no way any of you reading this will have played all of the games introduced to the service. But it does paint a picture.
All in all, 137 games were added for PC Game Pass subscribers – the total is a little higher for those subbed to Game Pass Ultimate, where you have access to some titles that can only be played on consoles or via cloud gaming, such as NBA 2K24.
Of these 137, an impressive 37 were day-one releases. Some of these were big, first-party titles from Microsoft’s roster of studios, such as Call of Duty Black Ops 6, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Hellblade 2. The majority, though, were third-party games such as Manor Lords, Palworld, Dungeons of Hinterberg, and Frostpunk 2.
Within the remaining 100, there were plenty of other big names added to Game Pass. Diablo 4 stands out as a particular highlight alongside the likes of Sifu, Hunt Showdown 1896, Modern Warfare 3, Ark Survival Ascended, and Lords of the Fallen.
I’m well aware that I’ve only focused here on what was added to Game Pass this year – of course, plenty has been booted off as well. While a lot of the removals in 2024 were either outdated games or games making way for their sequels (annual sports titles are a big contributor to this), there were some that subscribers will be particularly pained to see leave. The likes of the Hitman trilogy collection, Valheim, Payday 3, and Forza Horizon 4 all departed last year. It’s not impossible for them to return in the future, though – we’ve seen plenty of games re-added after leaving Game Pass in the past.
If 2024 looked good, then 2025 is arguably looking even better already. The likes of Doom The Dark Ages, Fable, Avowed, FBC Firebreak, Atomfall, and South of Midnight are already locked in as day-one additions that will battle for a place on our best Game Pass games list.
