Nevertheless, it was popular enough on the site that its inevitable ban sparked a bit of outrage, which Nexus Mods has been dealing with over the past few days. Finally, in a statement via the official Nexus Mods Twitter account, the site has addressed the anger and “misinformation” spreading about the topic.
Nexus Mods Responds To Anger Over Marvel Rivals Trump Mod Ban
For starters, Nexus Mods claimed to be “simply executing our existing file submission policies” as the reason behind the ban, explaining that it updated its Terms of Service all the way back in 2020 to state that it would be removing all American political mods from the site. It simply took a while to go through as Nexus Mods is primarily policed by its own users.
Nexus Mods also says that it isn’t taking any kind of political stance with the removal of the mod, claiming to have removed similar Obama and Biden mods at the same time, while also pointing out that the site itself is UK-based, and therefore doesn’t want the site to be used for “US political discussion”.
Those that regularly use Nexus Mods won’t be surprised by the removal of these Trump and Biden mods, as it’s always been a site that has aimed to create a positive modding community by not allowing controversial mods to be uploaded to the site. For example, Nexus Mods also recently removed mods that whitewashed characters in Dragon Age: The Veilguard and removed pronoun options from Starfield.
Before that, it removed mods that attempted to replace gay pride flags with US flags in Marvel’s Spider-Man. It’s always been a modding platform that has attempted to make things as inclusive for as many people as humanly possible, so thse Trump and Biden mods for Marvel Rivals were always going to suffer the same fate.
