Minecraft developer Mojang gave a bunch of the game’s biomes a major face-lift earlier this week, revealing that pig variations and new ambient features would be part of the first major game drop of 2025. Wildflowers, falling leaves, and crunchy leaf litter were all added to select biomes in an attempt to make them a little prettier, but it seems the latter is actually having the opposite effect.
Ever since the leaf litter was added in the latest snapshot, several threads by disappointed Minecraft fans have popped up on both Twitter and Reddit, calling the texture “ugly” or just declaring their hatred for it. These posts are usually accompanied with an image of said leaf litter, and from the screenshot being shown, they kind of have a point.
Minecraft Fans Hate The Latest Update’s Leaf Litter
A Reddit user called MintWarfare is one such player that hates the leaf litter, claiming it looks ugly, using an aerial shot of a forest to prove their point. Most of the disappointment appears to be aimed at the greener biomes that leaf litter is present in, with many users – such as Responsible-Trifle93 – claiming it actually “looks good in wooded badlands”.
Various people have begun coming up with solutions to the problem, such as Mojang making a green version, so the colors don’t clash as much in the greener biomes, or to make the leaves like copper and have them age and change color over time.
In a different thread discussing how gross this leaf litter looks, a user called Theban33dguy claims that it’s actually the lack of variety in the pattern of the leaf litter that makes it so jarring, while OneDude20 says that it needs to be “more clumped together” instead of being really sparse and all over the place.
Thankfully, Mojang is in a position in which it can alter this leaf litter based on feedback. What with the feature only being included in a snapshot at the moment, Mojang can hopefully make some alterations to ensure that leaf littler looks a bit less gross when it’s ready to be rolled out to game proper. Isn’t early access a great thing?
