The main reason this game got me is not the Marvel brand, or the 3rd person view, or the free to play aspect, the main thing is the combo system. A very clever mechanic that allows me and a friend or two to jump into the matches, choose good combos, like Rocket and Punisher, or Venom and Penny Parker and carry our team to victory or defeat while having fun with the system.

In the end of the day, it was the smart and somewhat original mechanic that makes this game shine for me. Another proof that if the ideas are fun, the game will also be fun and popular.
