When Helldivers 2 first came out the arsenal of weaponry at the disposal of divers was a little slim. Now however we’ve got quite a collection of boomsticks to blow apart bots, bugs and voteless with as well as a large selection of Stratagems to toss around.

One of the more recent additions is the WASP Launcher, and it’s been surprisingly useful at taking apart almost everything the game can throw at it. A very versatile weapon that’s worth taking along if you’re looking for a new Missile Launcher to try, here’s how to get and use the Wasp Launcher in Helldivers 2.
What Is The Wasp Launcher?
First and foremost, here’s a brief rundown on what the W.A.S.P. Launcher is. It’s a weapon from Killzone 3, despite it appearing in a crossover for Killzone 2 and its full name is the StA-X3 W.A.S.P. Launcher. But we’ll be calling it the Wasp for short.
It’s a support weapon that has two modes of fire, Artillery and Burst. It’s mainly an Anti-Tank launcher, but you can fire it at pretty much anything and it’ll do the job. Plus, it’s a chunky launcher so it requires a stationary reload or a teammate helping out. It’s yours at level 20 for 12000 Requisition.
How To Get The Wasp Launcher?
It’s incredibly easy to get your hands on the Wasp Launcher. You first need to reach level 20, so it may take a little while before you see it if you’re new. For those already above 20, just head over to the Patriotic Administration Centre. Also known as the spot where you buy Stratagems.
Scroll down the list until you get to the section with Rocket Launchers and you’ll find the Wasp at the bottom. As we previously mentioned it’ll cost you 12k Requisition, so have some points spare to spend. Once you buy it, just add it to your loadout for your next drop and call it in.
The Wasp comes with a backpack for reloading missiles with seven per pod and five pods in your reserve. This makes a total of 42 rounds in total that can be fired before the weapons empty.

How To Use The Wasp Launcher?
Like all the other weapons in Helldivers 2, the Wasp is fairly simple to pop-off. Its similar in use to the Spear in that you can’t dumb fire it like the Recoilless, instead it requires a lock-on. But it’s fairly fast at acquiring targets so you can lock-on, fire, re-lock on another target, and then fire again.
By default the Wasp will fire in Burst Mode. This setting will shoot out up to seven missiles at a time if the fire button is held down. However, if you just tap it, then the launcher will only release one missile per button press.
In Burst Mode the missiles will fire off in random directions before locking into their target. This can cause some collision issues within urban or enclosed areas.
The other setting you’ll have a lot of fun with is Artillery Mode. When this mode is selected the Wasp will use an entire salvo of seven missiles at once. These will shoot directly up like a Mortar round before arcing toward a target that you’ve locked on to a set angle. Before it strikes the target the rounds will explode in an Airburst one after the other. The more missiles used, the bigger the boom.
You don’t need all seven missiles to use the Artillery Mode, half a clip or even one round will do.
The missiles themselves deal roughly 200 damage per projectile and 600 for each explosion. So it’s pretty handy at clearing out crowds that are chasing down your fellow Helldivers.
It’s also a solid weapon for engaging medium to large enemies from afar as the missile’s range is very long and its travel time is exceedingly fast. So the Wasp is can just easily wear them down. The only major flaw is the rapid ammunition consumption. However, one Ammo Box from a Resupply Stratagem will refill an entire missile pod so it’s good on levels where ammo is plentiful.
