Marvel Rivals is a hero shooter with various ways to damage your enemies, from up-close melee damage dealers to long-range snipers. For those familiar with the shooter genre, they’ll know that even ranged has different types of firing off damage: hitscan versus projectiles.

Marvel Rivals: 7 Best Characters To Play In Domination Mode
Domination mode is one of the toughest yet the most fun in Marvel Rivals, especially if you play these characters.
For those unfamiliar, hitscan means that wherever your reticle is pointing, the launched projectile, be it a bullet or magic sword, will arrive at the target instantly, without the need for leading shots. In Marvel Rivals, there are six different hitscan heroes in the game, and a few of them also happen to be among the strongest damage dealers available.
7
Adam Warlock
One of the game’s Strategist heroes, Adam Warlock does hitscan damage with his primary fire, Quantum Magic. This is a high-damage attack that, if hitting headshots, can take out enemy targets very quickly. His alternate fire, which allows you to charge up a ranged attack, is not hitscan, but a projectile.
The main drawback is that Adam does not have many tools for getting himself out of scrapes or bad positions. He’s not a Vanguard of Duelist, so his kit is focused around healing allies rather than self-sustain or ways to quickly move across the map, or even crowd control.
6
The Punisher
Frank Castle is a perfect fit for a shooting game, and he translates here just as well as you’d expect. With his two primary weapons, the Adjudication assault rifle and Deliverance shotgun, he has both close-range and long-range options.

If you’re looking for a character to try as you dive into the different roles in Marvel RIvals, we highly recommend these ones!
The Punisher is one of those heroes that’s great for beginners but begins to fall off a bit as you get better at the game. His kit is simple, with a grappling hook for quick escapes and positioning, as well as a projectile-based (non-hitscan) turret mode and ultimate ability.
5
Black Widow
Black Widow is the sniper of the game, evoking feelings of Overwatch’s Widowmaker character. Her hitscan weapon is her Red Room Rifle, which allows you to deal high single-target damage from afar.
The main drawback of Widow is that, as a hitscan character with a bolt-action rifle, she takes precise aiming, and every shot has to count, or else you’re either wasting time or giving away your position. And while she does have melee options, she pales in comparison to other close-range characters, so she has a very high skill ceiling. But if you can put in the time, she is worth it.
4
Psylocke
The Psychic warrior Sai, known as Psylocke, allows you to live out your ninja fantasies in Marvel Rivals. Her primary fire, Psionic Crossbow, is a hitscan attack of psionic bolts that also lowers the cooldown on her abilities, allowing you to keep up the momentum.

With her dash attack, Psi-Blade Dash, she can dash across the battlefield and deal damage to enemies in her path or get away from a bad situation. This is already a great tool, but combining the ability to lower the cooldown with her primary fire, which in itself is a great attack, makes her a very effective Duelist hero.
3
Star-Lord
The quick-witted leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Star-Lord is a simple, yet excellent, Duelist character. His main attack uses his Element Guns to do rapid-fire damage, and the rest of his kit is built around complimenting these weapons.
With the Blaster Barrage skill, he will turn invincible and float around with his rocket boots, dealing damage in a sphere around him for three seconds. He also has the ability Stellar Shift, which will see him dodge with invincibility and automatically reload his weapons, allowing you to continue the damage onslaught.
2
Luna Snow
Luna Snow is one of the best Strategist characters in the game, and that includes her hitscan firing style. She has huge healing potential, while also having a high-damage hitscan primary fire and lots of freedom of movement.
For learning the game, Luna Snow is a great choice, and this will translate all the way up to the highest ranks. Her healing, combined with her swift movement, solid and easy damage output, and self-sustaining healing abilities, make her one of the best characters for any team composition.
1
Hela
Hela, the Norse Goddess of Death, is arguably the strongest Duelist character in the game. Her primary fire, Nightsword Thorn, is a fast-hitting hitscan attack that deals solid damage at a fast rate while also being pretty easy to learn and play.
The rest of her kit also compliments her damage-focused playstyle; she is able to travel and go invincible with Astral Flock, deal even more area damage with Soul Drainer and Nastrond Crowstorm. Her ultimate, Goddess of Death, allows her to take to the sky and rain down projectiles on enemies while also getting a massive boost to her health.
