Summary
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed again, this time to March 20, 2025.
- The game was planned for release on February 14.
- Ubisoft claims that the delay will allow developers to further refine and polish the game.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed until March 20, 2025, as publisher Ubisoft tries to incorporate feedback from fans into the game. The game was originally slated for release in November before being pushed back three months, and fans can now expect to get their hands on Assassin’s Creed Shadows five weeks after its previously announced release date of February 14.
The first big release date delay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows was announced in late September 2024, bumping the game from its original November 15 launch date to February 14, 2025. At that time, the official announcement from Ubisoft didn’t provide too many statistics, with the company simply stating that the three-month delay was “in the best interest of the game.”

Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ New Parkour Mechanics Are a Natural Progression of its Premise
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is introducing a wealth of new parkour features, and they all go hand in hand with the game’s overarching premise.
Unlike the first delay, which was later revealed to have involved development trouble with Assassin’s Creed Shadows centered around the developers at Ubisoft Quebec’s concerns over cultural and historical accuracy, this new delay is being enacted to incorporate feedback from fans. In a statement on the official Assassin’s Creed website, the game franchise’s vice president executive producer, Marc-Alexis Coté, stated that Ubisoft is “committed to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience—fostered by ongoing dialogue between our players and development teams.” Both delays share one trait, however, as Coté said that the new delay, like the last one, will provide the development team with additional time to “refine and polish” the game prior to release.
When Will Assassin’s Creed Shadows Be Released?
When the announcement came in September that the game was going to be pushed from its original launch date, Ubisoft appealed to its fans who might not be happy about the delay by refunding Assassin’s Creed Shadows pre-orders and announcing that all future pre-orders for the game would grant players free access to the game’s first planned expansion. There’s been no word from Ubisoft if there will be similar rewards this time around, though a five-week delay is likely to cause a smaller amount of player unrest than one that sets the game back by three months.
The additional delay could also be related to the self-imposed internal practices probe at Ubisoft that was first announced a little over three months ago. While Ubisoft remains among the top-grossing publishers in the gaming industry overall, recent disappointing sales numbers have contributed to a 2023 fiscal year of record losses for the company. On the heels of that news, the investigation was announced, with one of its major goals to make its games more “player-centric.” Delaying Assassin’s Creed Shadows for another month to incorporate fan feedback may be part of that plan.
