The Final Saga has showcased a number of powerful Conqueror’s haki users, with more to come in One Piece.
However, it is safe to say that Zoro is yet to reach the highest of heights. Clearly, Zoro needs to get stronger, and he can only do that by attaining stronger weapons. Currently, Zoro holds quite an impressive lineup of swords, but he might be getting a new sword upgrade soon enough.
Zoro’s Current Three Swords
- Zoro Will Always Hold On To Wado Ichimonji
- Zoro Received His Newest Sword Enma in Wano
Currently, Zoro has access to some of the mightiest blades to have existed in One Piece. Zoro’s current lineup of swords includes Enma, Wado Ichimonji, and Sandai Kitetsu. All three of these blades are incredibly powerful, each being special in their own way. It is unclear as to what blade Zoro considers to be the best, but the spiritual connection that he has with Wado Ichimonji suggests that this blade is certainly his favorite.
After I tame this sword, I will be stronger. – Zoro
Zoro received the Wado at the very beginning of his journey as a swordsman. This is one of the 21 Great Grade Swords, and this blade originally belonged to Kuina. Following her death, it passed on to Zoro, and he utilizes the sword to keep the promise that he made to her of becoming the greatest swordsman in the world. No matter what, Zoro will never give this sword up. This sword is also going to be taken by Zoro to the next level, possibly being blackened at the end of the story. It must also be remembered that this blade is way too special for Zoro to be replaced, which means that even when Zoro goes on to get a power upgrade, in terms of his arsenal of weapons, the Wado Ichimonji cannot be touched and will remain with him right up until the very end.
Then, one comes over to the second sword that is quite hard to replace, and this sword is Enma. Enma is the reason why Zoro is as strong as he is right now. He received the sword in the Wano Country Arc of One Piece as a replacement for Shusui, which he ended up returning to the country. Zoro received Enma from Hiyori, and this sword is incredibly powerful as it draws the Ryuo from the body of the user, forcibly bringing it to the surface. It is believed that only a handful of individuals in the One Piece world can tame this sword. Zoro has yet to master Enma completely, which means that his chances of actually replacing the sword anytime soon are very low.
At the same time, Zoro has to blacken the sword Enma, which means he cannot simply give it away before he accomplishes that. This plot point was set up in the Wano Country arc when Zoro was training with Enma and speaking to Sukiyaki. It was made clear that Emma did not blacken under Oden since it didn’t get enough time and Oden died a premature death. Zoro will have to fulfill that at some point later down the line. Given that Zoro isn’t close to blackening this sword yet, it is highly likely that he will have to keep the sword right up until the very end.
Why Sandai Kitetsu Needs To Be Replaced
The Sandai Kitetsu Is Strong, But Not Strong Enough
Given that both Enma and Wado Ichimonji cannot be replaced, the only sword that fans can turn their eye towards is the Sandai Kitetsu. The Sandai Kitetsu is a very powerful blade, known to be one of the 50 Skillful Grade Swords. This blade is quite powerful, to say the least, and Zoro defines it to be a sharp blade that is somewhat hard to contain. This sword is also known to have a bloodthirst of its own, which shouldn’t come as a surprise, given that this is a cursed sword. It belongs to the Kitetsu line, and all swords in this line are said to bring a terrible death upon their owner.

One Piece: Sanji’s Next Bounty After Elbaf, Explained
Sanji will surely get a new bounty after Elbaf. Sanji’s next bounty in One Piece will be a huge upgrade.
However, the Wano Country Arc of One Piece made it clear that there is no such thing as “cursed” swords. These are tools made for murder, and when someone fails to control a sword, they start calling it cursed, because they simply were not up to the task of controlling the blade. The blades choose their owners, and only the worthy are strong enough to sustain their powers.
Are you telling me that Oden used to wield you as if you were light as a feather? – Zoro
Zoro has proven himself to be worthy of utilizing the Sandai Kitetsu, but, unfortunately, this sword is not as strong as the other two. Even if Zoro goes on to blacken the sword, it is not going to rise to Supreme Grade, like the other two. This sword, as such, needs replacing, and at some point after the Elbaf Arc, it is possible that Zoro will pick up a completely new blade. As for what sword Zoro will pick up, fans don’t know. The perfect sword for Zoro to replace the Sandai Kitetsu with would be the Nidai Kitetsu. This sword was introduced in Wano, but for some reason, Zoro did not receive it.
That said, just because Zoro did not receive it during the Wano Country arc doesn’t mean that he can’t receive it later down the line. It must be remembered that the country of Wano will join the Straw Hat Pirates once the main war of One Piece begins. After all, Pluton is sleeping under Wano and the barriers around the country need to be torn down. When that happens, Momo, Yamato, Kinemon, and even Sukiyaki, along with the samurai of the country will join all the action. It is possible that at this point, Zoro will go on to replace the Sandai Kitetsu with the Nidai Kitetsu.
Why The Nidai Kitetsu?
Of course, fans might wonder why Zoro needs to have the Nidai Kitetsu and why he simply can’t go for any other sword after the Elbaf Arc. The answer to that question is quite simple. Oda has already established a battle between Zoro and Nusjuro. As fans know, he holds the Shodai Kitetsu, and Zoro has the Sandai. As such, this is a battle of Kitetsu swords that Oda himself has set up. Zoro simply cannot go into this battle without a Kitetsu sword, which means that either Zoro continues wielding the Sandai Kitetsu right up until the very end, or, if the sword is replaced, it is done with the Nidai Kitetsu. The possibility of Zoro getting Nidai Kitetsu exists in One Piece, and hopefully, it will come true at some point later down the line.
