Mascot characters are a staple of animated Japanese media, like game series and anime or manga. These are typically anthropomorphized animal-like creatures or monsters, that are cute and marketable, and in the case of the Persona series, are a big part of the story as well, often being important to the main story as well as serving as a guide and key party member to have.

Persona 3 Reload: Every SEES Member’s Persona, Ranked
With their ties to mythology and inspiration from their users, we rank all the SEES members’ Personas for the best designs.
Persona one and two are pretty different from the rest of the Persona series that people have come to be familiar with, and part of this is also not having mascot characters. So, this list will pit the mascots of Persona 3, 4, and 5, as well as a Persona-adjacent Atlus property, and a surprise final inclusion.

Ruferu
Persona 5: The Phantom X is a spin-off of Persona 5, and features a new mascot character in the form of Ruferu. Ruferu operates similarly to Morgana, in that he is an anthropomorphized animal that has a realistic form in the real world and an alternate form in the Metaverse.
Ruferu is an owl, and in the real world takes the form of an owl with white feathers and blue eyes. While in the Metaverse, he becomes anthropomorphized and dons a hoodie, sporting a modern appearance along with his tonfa weapons. Ruferu is ok as far as mascots go. In the wake of Persona 5, the game his game is a spin-off of, he feels like another attempt at Morgana and even turns into a car in the Metaverse just like him. The design is a bit too much to make it a memorable mascot or marketing ploy.
5
Aigis
Aigis is the mascot of Persona 3, and she is a cyborg member of S.E.E.S. She appears as a teenage girl, with short blonde hair, blue eyes, and a robotic body with white and gold accents; during her outings at school and in public, she wears clothes to hide her android body. She feels strongly towards your protagonist, both to protect them and as a love interest as she develops human emotions.
However, this makes her feel less like a mascot character and more like just another friend or relationship in the party like the rest of the cast, which isn’t a bad thing but makes her one of the weaker mascots. You may want to buy a plushie of Morgana or Teddie, but probably not one of Aigis. As a character and member of the team, Aigis is great, but as a mascot, she is left a bit lacking compared to the rest.
4
Koromaru
While Aigis is the official mascot of Persona 3, Koromaru the dog is the honorary runner-up. Koromaru is a Shiba-Inu dog that joins the party and even has little custom gear made for dogs.
Kormaru is a white and gray Shiba-Inu that sports a white jacket, SEES armband, and even a doggy evoker. While he does not talk like the other animal mascots in the other games, he is extremely loyal to the party and shows extreme intelligence for a dog. While his design is very simple, it works, and is bolstered by just how likable he is as a party member and companion for the group.
3
Morgana
Morgana is a black cat with blue eyes, as well as a yellow scarf, and is the mascot of Persona 5. He finds the protagonist and Ryuji while they are exploring Mementos for the first time, and sticks by your side until the very end, serving as a guide and angel (or devil) on your shoulder throughout your adventure. Morgana is a pretty good mascot design, all things considered.

Persona 5: 10 Facts You Never Knew About Morgana
Persona 5’s lead mascot Morgana is one of its most interesting characters. This stylish game gave us a lot of reasons to love him.
He is a cat, which most people love and find cute, as well as having a unique design with his giant head, evoking a caricature; this can be seen as a bit safe and generic, depending on your perspective. While he is a great character and helpful guide in the game, a lot of players eventually found him grating and annoying, especially with how often he would try and force you to go to bed or accomplish another task instead of what you wanted to do.
2
Teddie
Teddie is probably the most uniquely designed of the Persona mascots. He is meant to appear like a teddy bear, hence his name, but he is the size of the rest of the human cast, rotund, and has a zipper all around his neck that, when unzipped, reveals he is hollow inside. He also has short, but spiked-up blue hair, and a red coat with a white stripe down the middle and red buttons. Among the Persona-specific mascots, Teddie is the most memorable design-wise.
Teddie is found within the Midnight Channel and serves as a guide until he eventually joins the party with his persona. Teddie has a bit of a grating voice, but his personality is very likable, with him being a bit on the timid side, but still willing to help you and your friends solve the problems plaguing your town. He also overcomes his fears to fight and help protect his home of the Midnight Channel, while providing some much-needed levity for the cast and the events surrounding the game’s plot.
1
Jack Frost
Jack Frost is the mascot of the whole Megami Tensei series, really, and not just Persona. He is an adorable little snowman with a Jack-o-Lantern face and a blue hat and neck, making him memorable and unique looking, as well as being adorable. He also has a catchphrase that the fans love, “Hee Ho!”.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Vs. Persona 5 Royal – Which Game Is Better?
Metaphor: ReFantazio was released and made a lot of noise as one of 2024’s best games. But is it better than Persona 5 Royal?
Jack Frost is present in all the games in some fashion. For example, in Persona, he is always a useable persona, and a very useful early-game one at that, often evolving into his King Frost form down the line or his evil Black Frost form. In the spin-off game Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, there is a store called the Hee Ho Mart with Jack as the mascot. He even made his way into Metaphor: ReFantazio, which otherwise, is completely disconnected from the rest of the Megami Tensei series. There is so much merchandise of Jack Frost, and even people unfamiliar with the Persona series as a whole will recognize Jack Frost is from the team at Atlus.
