Monster Hunter Wilds’ first open beta was a staggering success. Despite some major struggles on PC, the beta had a peak concurrent player count of over 463,000, more than behemoth titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Helldivers 2, and Throne and Liberty. This made it the fifth-largest concurrent player count for anything released in 2024.

Ahead of the game’s February 28 release, Capcom has confirmed that Wilds will be getting a second beta where players can hunt a monster returning from the original Monster Hunter title.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test 2 Confirmed For Next Month

In a video ushering in the year of Monster Hunter Wilds, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed that the latest title in one of Capcom’s most successful franchises would be receiving a second beta test just a few weeks before the game launches.

The betas will be available during the following periods:

  • Friday 7 February (3 am UTC) – Monday 10 February (2:59 am UTC)
  • Friday 14 February (3 am UTC) – Monday 17 February (2:59 am UTC)

Capcom confirmed that players won’t need an active PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription to take part in the betas.

As part of the second beta, players will be able to take part in everything that the first included (Character Creation, Story Trial, Slay Doshaguma Quest) as well as facing up against the Gypceros, a monster that first appeared in the original game, and last appeared in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.

Capcom also confirmed players who take part in the beta will receive a Palico charm that can be used on a weapon or Seikret, as well as an ‘item pack’,

The first open beta was a treasure trove for dataminers, with multiple returning monsters seemingly confirmed for the game, and players will be hoping to see more monsters confirmed, fixes for many of the game’s early bugs, and the return of the much-requested hitstop.
