Hyper Light Breaker Trailer Highlights Goro [EXCLUSIVE]



In an exclusive trailer provided to Game Rant, Heart Machine shows off some footage and details of one of Hyper Light Breaker‘s several playable characters. The character in question is Goro, and he’s one of the more distinct characters in Hyper Light Breaker‘s roster for a number of reasons. Off the bat, Goro’s adorable raccoon-like appearance betrays his undeniable ferocity in the gameplay footage, and the playstyles on display seem to be ideal for players looking for a more specialized approach.

While Hyper Light Breaker‘s characters can vary in playstyle depending on the weapons and upgrades players pick up throughout their roguelike adventures in the procedurally generated open world, they tend to lean toward different approaches that keep them distinct. In Goro’s case, the trailer shows some devastatingly quick melee capabilities along with some support functionality that’ll round out cooperative play.

Hyper Light Breaker’s Goro Has Some Unique Playstyles

The trailer begins by highlighting that Goro possesses “skills with a blade,” and this is certainly backed up by the accompanying gameplay footage. Goro can be seen obliterating a group of enemies with rapid strikes from his dual-wielded daggers. Heart Machine next points out that Goro hails from the Land of Light, a name that should sound familiar to Hyper Light Drifter players who paid attention to the details tucked away in Hyper Light Drifter‘s surprisingly deep lore. Next, Goro is shown manifesting a giant block of energy that slams down onto a group of hapless slimes, crushing them immediately. Offensively, Goro looks to have strong area damage potential and should excel against groups of weaker targets.

Heart Machine then goes on to detail Goro’s Sycom choices, which serve as subclasses for each of Hyper Light Breaker’s playable characters. Goro’s Astrologer Sycom is one of the game’s more unique choices, as it’s focused on Goro’s usage of summonable drone companions that can help the team or hinder the enemy. As a result, an Astrologer Goro will likely be a welcome addition to cooperative teams in Hyper Light Breaker. Goro’s second Sycom is a Sniper loadout that emphasizes powerful long-range attacks. Both of Goro’s Sycom choices leave him with comparatively little HP relative to the other characters but with offensive and supportive abilities to make up for it, making for high-risk high-reward gameplay for skillful players.

Seeing as Goro’s Sycoms feature specialized approaches to combat, he’ll likely be an attractive choice for gamers who want to go all-in on their preferred playstyle rather than opting for a more generalized character like Vermillion.
