As such, stories like My Hero Academia end up with quite a high villain count, even if some of them only appear once or twice. Not all of them might be supervillains, but all of them serve a purpose.
There Are Around 170 Total Villains In My Hero Academia
When we’re counting the number of villains that appear in My Hero Academia (whether in the manga or in the show), we’re talking about villains that are either named or have distinctive characteristics. Take, for example, the notable Nomu — although not named, they have distinctive enough identifiers that they can, realistically, be hailed as their own villain).
As such, give or take a few on the basis of personal arguments, there are going to be around 170 villains in My Hero Academia. The grand majority of these villains are not supervillains by any stretch of the imagination, but you will see them at least once or twice or in particularly important moments.
There Are 13 Significant Villains In My Hero Academia
When considering which villains could and should be considered significant, we’re only taking into account the S and A-rank villains. These are the ones that pose a significant threat to the cast, and they are the ones who, more often than not, make regular appearances.
Most of them are important to the plot and they receive a lot of attention and development most of the time. Usually, they also require the intervention of professional heroes, rather than the wits and skills of the students, to take them down (like the U.S.J. Nomu).
There Are 12 Villain Organizations
Some of these organizations do come from the spin-off series (like the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes spin-off, or the My Hero Academia: Team Up Missions spin-off), so the chances of you seeing all twelve within the main series are pretty low. In the main My Hero Academia series, there are only five organizations.
However, later on, the League of Villains and the Meta Liberation Front merge to form the Paranormal Liberation Front. Of course, this count doesn’t include informal groups, which would far outnumber the official organizations.
