The Turbulent Timeways is an event World of Warcraft introduced back in September 2023 which offered five weeks of Timewalking campaigns. In addition to the normal quests and activities available during these periods, players could gain a stackable buff that, after completing four Timewalking dungeons, transformed into Mastery of Timeways – a 20% experience boost. Fans who obtained this buff for all five weeks earned the Master of the Turbulent Timeways achievement, along with the Sandy Shalewing pet.

Now, the Turbulent Timeways are back, and bigger than ever before. Each week for the next seven weeks, players will run through a different Timewalking campaign in order, beginning with Mists of Pandaria on January 7, and ending with Cataclysm the week of February 18. Each of these weeks will offer all the normal quests, dungeons, and raids available during World of Warcraft Timewalking campaigns, as well as the return of the stackable Mastery of Timeways buff.

Players who gain Mastery of Timeways for five out of these seven weeks will earn the Mastery of the Turbulent Timeways 2 achievement, which awards the adorable Timely Buzzbee mount. The Timewalking vendors for each of these expansions have new permanent additions to their stock, such as the Season of Discovery-themed World of Warcraft transmogs at the Classic vendor – but during this event, they also offer the Sandy Shalewing for fans who missed the last Turbulent Timeways. What’s more, the Cache of Nerubian Treasures awarded for completing the weekly Timewalking dungeon quest will give Heroic gear while Turbulent Timeways is active.
The World of Warcraft 20th anniversary event just concluded, which already had 11 weeks of consecutive Timewalking campaigns. Between it and the Turbulent Timeways, players will be Timewalking for 18 weeks in a row.
Were this event not exciting enough on its own, the end date for Turbulent Timeways also reveals some of World of Warcraft‘s plans. The last Timewalking campaign runs through February 24. Given its typical eight-week release cadence combined with the holiday season, this makes February 25 the most likely date for the release of World of Warcraft Patch 11.1, Undermined, as it will come 10 weeks after Patch 11.0.7. Between the Turbulent Timeways, Plunderstorm’s second run from January 14 through February 17, and The War Within’s first major content update shortly after, World of Warcraft is kicking off 2025 with a bang.
