Addons are community-crafted plugins and mods that players can optionally install into their World of Warcraft clients to improve their games in some way. From core plugins like Deadly Boss Mods and WeakAuras to roleplaying tools like Total RP 3 and Immersion, there are thousands of addons for both modern and Classic World of Warcraft.

What to Expect From World of Warcraft Classic in 2025

World of Warcraft Classic seems to have a pretty big year ahead of it with the launch of new Classic expansions and a slew of exciting updates.

However, one World of Warcraft fan recently answered a question few may have realized that they had: what happens when one installs every mod at once? Using CurseForge, the third-party program used by games like WoW to handle addons, World of Warcraft player and content creator Baltoboulbobbi installed as many WoW Classic addons as possible and attempted to play. After three hours of installation time, and five minutes on the loading screen, their game roared into a cacophony of sounds and a smattering of windows and popups that completely blocked out their screen. After finally finding the actual game, their attempts to battle enemies, level up, and complete quests were met with a bizarre and comedic chorus of memes, voice-overs, and other absurd sounds.

Playing World of Warcraft Classic With 3,683 Addons

Hilariously, Baltoboulbobbi couldn’t actually install every single addon in their World of Warcraft Classic game. They had to remove eight of the heaviest mods, as they would have overloaded their 16GB RAM limit otherwise. Additionally, 12 of the addons actively prevented World of Warcraft from loading while installed. What’s more, in the time since they made this video on December 15, 2024, over 100 more addons have been added to WoW Classic on CurseForge.

Needless to say, fans got a kick out of Baltoboulbobbi’s absurd experiment. The overlapping sound effects in combat and on level up, including John Cena’s iconic theme song, “You May Now Drink” low mana warning, and sudden French text-to-speech, were some of the mods that evoked the most laughs in the community. XBICYCLEx, the author of BirdFacts – one of the many addons seen in the video – even expressed their delight at having their creation appear in the silly experiment.

Baltoboulbobbi said they would do a WoW Classic Hardcore run with all of these addons installed if the video got over 20,000 views. It proceeded to more than quintuple that amount, prompting them to make good on their promise. As of their latest video, they have reached level 14 on their Hardcore World of Warcraft Classic character with 3,679 addons still installed, so players will have to see how far they can go with this incredibly unique challenge.
