Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, which is itself a remaster of the PSP remake of the original PC game, is a wonderful little game that knows its strengths. It doesn’t overburden itself with too much content to make it longer than its means, which means it only has a short few side quests over all as well.

Great JRPGs Without Turn-Based Combat
Turn-based combat is synonymous with JRPGs, but the genre has proven to be more than willing to focus on real-time action. These games highlight that.
One of those side quests involves helping Aida. She doesn’t exactly make it clear just what she wants you to do for her though. Here’s everything you need to do to bring some peace into her life once again.
Where Is Aida Found?
Redmont is the main hub of Oath in Felghana, and where the bulk of the game’s NPCs are found. Aida is found here too, with her house located on the lower level across from the inn and right beside the water. However, she is incredibly dismissive of you for quite a while, and insistently asks you to leave.
It is not until it is time to explore the Abandoned Mine that she begins to open up to you a bit more. At this point, a green exclamation mark will appear above her head to indicate she has a quest for you. However, she only says that she wishes she had a keepsake of Bob’s to remember him by. It’s not much direction, but it’s enough.
Quests in Oath in Felghana are not stored in a quest log of any variety, so make sure to pay attention to each quest so you don’t forget about them.
Where To Find Bob’s Pendant
You may recall Aida earlier on talking about her grandson, and how he died in a mining accident in the Tigray Quarry. We’re headed to the Abandoned Mine deeper in around this time anyway, so head to the Tigray Quarry now.
You were actually able to see Bob’s Pendant the very first time you came to the Quarry, but weren’t able to reach it. Here are some quick directions to get back to where it’s found.
- From the entrance, proceed to the right until you reach the main mining shaft.
- Drop down to the very bottom, then take the exit to the right.
- In this room, proceed all the way left until you can head up a set of stairs to the next area.
- In this next area, head left until you reach a collapsed bridge.
From here, you just need to make your way across. There are two ways of doing this, but only one of them is available to you at the moment. Equip the Ventus Bracelet and charge it up. Jump across the gap, using the Ventus Bracelet to carry you the rest of the way. Now you can pick up Bob’s Pendant and head on back to Aida.
You can also use the double jump ability, unlocked later, to reach Bob’s Pendant without the Ventus Bracelet.
The Reward For Helping Aida
Return to Aida, who will now have Elena consoling her as well, speaking about her grandson who died. Speak with Aida, and she will smile, the first time she has done so in the game. Her grandson is still dead, but at least she has something to remember him by now.
As a reward for helping her out of her depression, she gives you a brand-new accessory, the Nightfire Jewel. This grants light in darker areas, as well as reveals illusions in the environment. This is especially helpful in the upcoming Abandoned Mine, with Ricardo outside even saying you should get a light to help you.
