Honkai: Star Rail – Fugue Build Guide

Fugue is another strong addition to the Break-based playstyle in Honkai: Star Rail, and here’s how you can use her.

Himeko is a standard banner five-star character who follows the path of Erudition. When you build her correctly, she can deal a ton of damage to a group of enemies, and this can be even better if you put her in a team with certain characters.

Updated on January 06, 2025, by Sanyam Jain: Himeko might not be the best Erudition unit out there, but certain team members can easily make her viable in the game. She has a lot of potential to synergize with newer characters since she can be good with anyone good at breaking enemy shields.

Asta

If we’re talking about the best team members for Himeko, Asta deserves the first mention because her synergy with Himeko is one of the best synergies in the game. After unlocking the Ignite bonus ability on Asta, Himeko will deal an increased 18 percent Fire DMG as long as Asta is in the party.

Moreover, she can also give a huge ATK boost with the Charging stacks if you’re fighting multiple enemies. These two characters are also great at shredding the Toughness bar if the enemy is weak to Fire. If you put the characters against one such enemy, you’ll see the enemy get deleted very quickly.

Herta

Herta might not be one of the best characters in the game at zero Eidolons, but she can be quite good with Himeko. She triggers a follow-up attack whenever an enemy goes below 50 percent health, and Himeko does a follow-up attack every time three Weakness Breaks have been triggered.

If you put them together against small enemies with Ice and Fire weaknesses, you’ll watch their Toughness bar getting destroyed. This is perfect if you’re trying to farm some Calyx or smaller enemies somewhere else. With these two in the team, you can just auto the battle and let the game do its work.

Luocha

In the Version 1.1 update, Hoyoverse released an Abundance character that can do almost everything perfectly. Luocha is great at healing your party members automatically and removing any debuffs put on them by the enemies. Moreover, his Ultimate deals Imaginary damage to all enemies and remove a huge chunk of their Toughness bar.

Here are all the characters that can be used alongside Luocha to get the most value out of his skill set in Honkai: Star Rail.

Himeko and Luocha can show you some wonderful damage together if the enemies are weak to both Imaginary and Fire. The constant Toughness breaks allow Himeko to trigger her Follow-up attack constantly, and the enemy’s health gets deleted quite fast.

Silver Wolf

It can be quite frustrating when you’re playing Himeko and a boss isn’t weak to Fire, but all the minions around the boss are. In normal circumstances, you wouldn’t want to use Himeko here since it’s important to remove the boss’ Toughness bar as fast as you can, but Silver Wolf adds a twist.

Her abilities can decrease the DEF of a certain enemy and implant a specific Weakness that belongs to one of your party members’ combat types. If you put Himeko and Silver Wolf together against an opponent that’s weak to all your party’s types except Fire, this will always be the implanted Weakness.

Blade

Blade is a Wind Destruction character who scales on both ATK and HP. He can deal AoE damage from his Enhanced Basic Attack, Ultimate, and Follow-up. All these attacks are great at shredding the enemy’s Toughness bar, which already puts him in a good spot with Himeko.

When he was released for the first time in the Version 1.2 update, a bunch of new enemies with a Wind Weakness were added to the Overworld, Simulated Universe, and Memory of Chaos. If you’re planning to tackle any of these, you’ll get a lot of value from Himeko’s kit with Blade.

8

Pela

Pela might seem like a weird addition to this list at first, but she can be a great team member for Himeko during the late game. When you use Pela’s technique or activate her Ultimate, she reduces all enemies’ DEF by a certain percentage based on your Trace level. This allows Himeko to do more damage with her attacks.

Moreover, Himeko’s Starfire passive has a chance to inflict Burn on enemies, which is a debuff that allows Pela to do more damage. Her own skill also deals 20 percent more DMG to enemies afflicted with Burn, which stacks with the DEF shred given by Pela and boosts her damage significantly.

Jade

Erudition characters were the lowest on the list of meta characters for a long time, but Jade changed that for a lot of them, including Himeko. Jade is a special Erudition unit that specifically relies on buffing her allies by giving them a debt mark for three turns every time she uses her Skill.

Apart from getting a SPD boost, when the debt ally attacks an enemy, Jade gets one stack for her follow-up attack. This is perfect for Himeko since she can attack all five enemies with her attacks, allowing Jade to trigger her follow-ups often.

6

Yukong

Yukong is a special Harmony character since she provides some of the most crucial buffs in the game, but only to the two characters taking a turn after her. This can be quite frustrating since you have to build a precise amount of SPD on your DPS party members to make use of these buffs.

Here’s everything you need to know if you’re planning to build Yukong in Honkai: Star Rail.

Thankfully, it’s a bit lenient if you use her with Himeko because you can essentially trigger Himeko’s Follow-up Attack on command. Moreover, Ultimates and Follow-up Attacks don’t count as a turn for Yukong’s buff, which means you essentially get a free attack.

5

Tingyun

Talking about buffing Himeko’s overall DMG, Tingyun is a great Harmony character who gives a boost to a certain character’s ATK for three turns after using her Skill. She’s also a four-star character, which makes her quite easy to get if you play the game for a little while and use your summons on the Gacha system.

Her Ultimate can also help Himeko get her Ultimate faster, which is where most of her DMG comes from. Tingyun is an all-rounder character who works with every DPS in the game, so you won’t regret leveling her up, especially if you put her together with Himeko.

4

Bronya

Bronya is essentially an upgraded version of Tingyun, and she buffs Himeko even more if you’re lucky enough to get her. Firstly, if you use Bronya’s Skill on Himeko, she’ll get an instant turn with increased DMG and one of her debuffs will be removed. Getting a DMG buff is better than getting increased ATK in Honkai: Star Rail.

The instant turn will allow Himeko to charge up her Ultimate quicker while dealing some extra damage. Bronya’s Ultimate increases the buff on all party members even further, which is perfect if you use it just before Himeko’s Ultimate. Moreover, you can always use both Tingyun and Bronya with Himeko to make her damage skyrocket.

3

Yanqing

Yanqing is an Ice character that deals multiple instances of DMG during his Skill, which makes him great for shredding an enemy’s Toughness if they’re weak to Ice. As mentioned above, Himeko’s follow-up attack only triggers when multiple enemy shields have been broken, which makes him great with her.

With Yanqing and Himeko on the team, you have enough damage already. You’ll have the other two slots for healers and damage buffers to make this team even better. If you’re planning to do some Calyx runs to farm some materials, these two will make the process much faster even on auto-battle.

2

Sampo

Last but not least, Sampo can be another great team member for Himeko because of his Skill that shreds the enemy’s Toughness bar quite fast. Moreover, he also applies the Wind Shear effect to the enemies, which combines with the Burn from Himeko and deals a ton of damage to the enemies when their turn starts.

There’s a four-star Light Cone called Fermata, and you can get it from different planet shops and the Forgotten Hall shop. If you grind enough, you can get this Light Cone to Superimposition five for free. It’ll increase Sampo’s Break Effect and Wind Shear damage, which brings even more damage to this team.

1

Fugue

Honkai Star Rail Fugue ultimate animation with intimidating eyes.

Released during the Version 2.7 update, Fugue brought monumental changes in Himeko’s overall ranking in the meta by making her viable to be used in endgame modes. Fugue essentially gives enemies an extra Toughness bar, which allows her allies to trigger Weakness Break on them twice.

Other than that, she also increases ally Break DMG and reduces enemy DEF. For a character like Himeko who can get follow-up attacks by breaking enemy weakness, this unit is extremely useful. In modes with constant respawning enemies like Pure Fiction, you might see Himeko not letting anyone else get a turn as long as the smaller enemies have Fire Weakness.
