Both take place in blasted-out nuclear wastelands, but should you head into Fallout 4 or Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl?
To ensure your survival in such a harsh landscape, you need the right armor for the job. While you can buy armor from traders, it’s best not to. You’ll find many of these suits among stashes left by other stalkers, or they might be quest rewards. To help you with your journey into the Zone, here is the best defensive gear in Heart Of Chornobyl. Happy hunting, stalker.

This is likely to be the first suit that catches your eye. The appropriately named Debut Suit is a very useful piece of armor in the early game, and can be bought from the merchant Hamster. Save your coupons though: he’s overcharging you.

Instead, the best way to get the Debut Suit is to simply have patience. You’ll receive it for free as a quest reward once you fetch some sensors for Zotov or Richter. You can also find it lying around in the overworld, though by that point you probably won’t need it.
7
OZK Explorer’s Suit
Weight |
5.0 kg |
Artifact Slots |
2 |
The OZK Explorer’s Suit is a useful piece of armor once you start making progress in the main story. The suit can be found for free near Solder’s location in Behind Seven Seals, or purchased for a hefty sum later on. The suit has high chemical protection compared to most early game armor.
While you’d still best avoid anomalies, this suit’s rubber padding will somewhat lessen the damage if you run into one. Merchants are also willing to buy it for a high price once you’re done with it.
6
Tourist Suit
Weight |
3.0 kg |
Artifact Slots |
2 |
If you played the first Stalker game, and explored it thoroughly, this suit might sound familiar. Similar to its incarnation in the original game, the Tourist Suit is extremely useful due to its increased carrying capacity. Being bogged down with too much loot will be your most frequent problem in Stalker 2, so any suit that mitigates this issue is useful.
Besides its practical uses, the Tourist Suit sports an eye-catching, vibrant design. The suit was originally planned to be a pre-order bonus, but is now obtainable in the standard version too.
5
SSP-100M SIRCAA
Weight |
8.0 kg |
Artifact Slots |
3 |
SIRCAA is one of the dozen factions in Stalker 2, consisting mainly of scientists studying the zone. Unlike the free-range Bandits or the well-intentioned Freedom faction, SIRCAA has an R&D budget, and it shows.

These mods will make your Stalker 2 experience even better.
This suit ranks highly in protection from all anomalies, radiation and exposure to the elements. It’s a suit so powerful, in fact, that on the game’s release it couldn’t be upgraded by any tech. This was amended in a later patch, and the suit can now be improved upon. Its heavy weight is the only drawback.
4
PSZ-12V Bulat
Weight |
9.0 kg |
Artifact Slots |
4 |
One stalker’s trash is another stalker’s treasure. The PSZ-12V Bulat was rejected by the military in favour of other armor, leading to it being sold off as surplus inventory. The suits ended up in the hands of the Freedom faction.
This is one of Stalker 2’s best mid-game pieces of inventory. It offers high physical protection as well as four artifact slots. You can actually find it quite early if you know where to go – the army warehouse in Chemical Plant – but it stays useful throughout.
3
Operator Exoskeleton
Weight |
9.5 kg |
Artifact Slots |
4 |
Every good FPS game has a moment where you know the gear you picked up is powerful. In Stalker 2, that moment is when you pick up the Operator Exoskeleton. This suit, found late in the game, looks downright badass and has extremely high physical protection stats.

Can you trust what you see in the Zone?
As if that wasn’t enough, it also protects you from radiation and increases the weight you can carry. Of course, a large chunk of that bonus weight will be eaten up by this heavy exoskeleton itself, but it’s worth it.
2
SEVA-D
Weight |
8.0 kg |
Artifact Slots |
3 |
If you enjoy becoming overpowered early in RPGs, you should definitely nab the SEVA-D suit as soon as possible. This armor is surprisingly strong and viable for one that is accessible so early in the game. Of course, the path to getting it is a bit convoluted, but don’t worry: we’ll tell you how.
Most early game armors don’t have psi protection at all; the SEVA-D suit does. It can also be used to fulfil a late-game quest’s conditions, because by that time you’ll be done with it anyway.
1
Liberty Exoskeleton
Weight |
10.5 kg |
Artifact Slots |
5 |
The Liberty Exoskeleton is only obtainable in the endgame of Stalker 2, and represents the highest technical achievement of the Freedom faction. It unlocks all the artifact slots and provides a huge boost to your carrying capacity. The in-game description humorously points out the suit’s mammoth cost, though you’ll probably never sell it.
With extremely high physical and radiation protection and respectable all-around stats, the Liberty Exoskeleton is what you want to be wearing during the game’s final missions. Skif’s journey as a stalker should end with style.
