Genshin Impact released the Artifact Transumuter gadget in Version 5.0. Artifacts are one of the most important parts of building powerful characters in Genshin Impact, but getting the right stats on them can feel like an endless grind. That’s where the Artifact Transmuter comes but it has some serious drawbacks. Here’s a guide to what the Artifact Transmuter is, how to get it, how to use it, and whether it’s really worth your time.
Genshin Impact Artifact Transmuter Guide: What is the Artifact Transmuter
The Artifact Transmuter is a gadget in Genshin Impact that allows you to change the stats on your artifacts. Instead of relying on luck when farming domains, you can use this tool to pick a main stat and two sub-stats for a piece of artifact. To do this, you’ll need an item called Sanctifying Elixir, which is very hard to come by.
How to get the Artifact Transmuter
To get the Artifact Transmuter, you’ll need to complete Chapter IV of the Embattle Tab in the Adventure Handbook. One of the requirements is to collect 25 five-star artifacts, which you can obtain by completing domain challenges or defeating bosses. Once you meet this goal, the Transmuter will become available in your Gadget menu.
How to use the Artifact Transmuter
Using the Artifact Transmuter is fairly straightforward. Once it’s in your inventory, follow these steps:
- Open the Gadget menu and select the Artifact Transmuter.
- Choose an artifact you want to modify.
- Pick the main stat and two sub-stats you want.
- Spend the required number of Sanctifying Elixirs to complete the transmutation.
The cost of transmuting artifacts depends on the type of artifact piece:
Artifact Piece | Sanctifying Elixirs Required |
---|---|
Flower of Life | 1 |
Plume of Death | 1 |
Sands of Eon | 2 |
Goblet of Eonothem | 4 |
Circlet of Logos | 3 |
Goblets are especially expensive to transmute but are worth considering because of their impact on elemental damage bonuses.
How to Get Sanctifying Elixirs
Sanctifying Elixirs are the key resource for using the Artifact Transmuter, but they’re incredibly limited. Here are the main ways to obtain them:
You can extract Sanctifying Elixirs from the Artifact Transmuter’s Extraction menu. To do this, you’ll need level 4 or higher artifacts. Each extraction requires 100 points of Extraction Progress, and the points depend on the artifact’s level:
Artifact Level | Extraction Progress Points |
---|---|
4-11 | Equal to the artifact’s level |
12-15 | Artifact level + 2 extra points |
16-19 | Artifact level + 6 extra points |
20 | 30 points |
However, you can only extract one Elixir per update cycle, which resets every 42 days. This makes extracting Elixirs an extremely slow process.
2. Exploring Natlan
Some Sanctifying Elixirs can be found in hidden areas in the Natlan region. You’ll need to craft Obsidian Rings using fragments from Luxurious and Precious chests. These rings unlock secret areas where Elixirs are hidden:
- Yellow Obsidian Ring: Found in Tequemecan Valley, in the Children of the Echoes region.
- Green Obsidian Ring: Found on Coatepec Mountain, near the Scions of Canopy waypoint.
- Azure Obsidian Ring: Found at Toyac Springs, near the People of the Springs waypoint.
3. Rewards and Exchanges
You can also earn some Elixirs by exchanging Pyro Sigils at the Tablet of Tona in Natlan. However, the number of Elixirs you can get this way is still very limited.
Genshin Impact Artifact Transmuter Guide and Tips
Because Sanctifying Elixirs are so scarce, you’ll want to use them wisely. Here are some tips:
- Focus on Goblets and Circlets: These pieces have the biggest impact on your characters’ stats, so prioritize transmuting them over Flowers and Plumes.
- Don’t Waste High-Level Artifacts: Instead of sacrificing level 16+ artifacts, use level 4 artifacts with poor stats for extraction. They’re much easier to replace.
- Be Patient: Since extraction is slow and Elixirs are rare, it’s better to save them for critical upgrades rather than experimenting.
Is the Artifact Transmuter worth it
Let’s be real, the Artifact Transmuter sounds amazing on paper, but in practice, it’s kind of a scam. The severe limitations on Sanctifying Elixirs, combined with how much effort it takes to obtain them, make this tool far less useful than it should be. You’re better off farming domains for artifacts the traditional way, even if it’s time-consuming. In the end, the Artifact Transmuter feels more like a gimmick than a real solution to artifact grinding. Unless Hoyoverse makes significant changes, it’s hard to recommend using this gadget seriously. Stick to farming domains and hope for good RNG.
