Marvel Rivals: How To Counter Iron Fist
Iron Fist might hit hard, but with the right moves, you’ll have him punching air in no time.
Spider-Man is one such hero you will encounter in matches and even though he won’t normally cause your team too much hassle, in the right hands, Spider-Man can make for a lethal opponent. He could very well be the bane of a match that can sway a win in the enemy team’s favour.
How To Counter Spider-Man
When going up against a competent Spider-Man, you will find their mobility and movement to be the most dangerous aspect of their play style.
As they swing around the map at breakneck speeds, you will need to either have an aim similar to that of a bullseye assassin or use heroes that effectively bring Spider-Man to a halt, letting your team get finishing blows.
We recommend pinging Spider-Man regularly for your team when he is swinging around the map or sticking to a general area. His health can be depleted rapidly when targeted by two players, so the more people who know his current attack zone, the merrier.
Effective Spider-Man strategies can consist of manoeuvring around a player before then yanking them towards him for melee attack combos.
If you do happen to be stuck in close-quarters combat with him as a medium or long-range Hero, your best bet is to use any immobilisation or evasive abilities at your disposal, like Mystic Projection as Scarlet Witch. Alternatively, make your best attempt to fire at his head with whatever weapon you have, then throw in a few melee attacks of your own to overwhelm him.
How To Counter Spider-Man As A Duelist
Scarlet Witch is the hero we recommend as an efficient Duelist counter to Spider-Man. The key element that makes her a formidable opponent to him is that her primary attack (Chaos Control) doesn’t need to be aimed precisely at a target to damage them.
Holding down the attack button and firing the stream of magic at Spider-Man as he swings around an area works excellently with Scarlet Witch’s close-to-medium attack range.
When he does get close and attacks you with melee instead of Web-Clusters, just hit him with the Chthonian Burst ability two times, then use Mystic Projection to get out of his attacks. His health will be lower for the rest of the team to deal with.
Iron Man is another hero who can be brutal for Spider-Man, as the mobility that Stark has makes him a hard target to take down and the damage output is intense. However, since Spider-Man doesn’t stay on the ground too often, there is much more precision aiming needed.
How To Counter Spider-Man As A Strategist
Stopping Spider-Man’s movement as a Strategist is key, making Luna Snow and Mantis both the prime picks. We recommend Luna Snow in particular because of her Absolute Zero ice attack, which can freeze Spider-Man in place, and then her Ice Arts ability, which means an absolute direct aim on Spider-Man isn’t needed to still cause damage.
Jeff the Land Shark is an effective personal counter since he can submerge in the ground and get away from Spider-Man but he won’t assist the team as much in making the hero easier to eliminate.
The drawback to Luna Snow’s Absolute Zero ability to stop Spider-Man is that the ice ball fired at him needs to actually hit. This means the main times you should use the ability is when he is not swinging around an area rapidly.
Mantis, on the other hand, has her Spore Slumber ability, which will throw a spore (acting as a bomb) towards an area and one of the enemies will be put to sleep. This can be highly useful for countering Spider-Man’s melee attacks on the ground and will let the team, and you get some finishing blows similar to Luna’s Absolute Zero.
Aim slightly up before using Spore Slumber since there is a high downward trajectory on the ability, and it will drop much faster than you expect.
The downside of Mantis is that she does not have an ability that lets her damage Spider-Man without direct hits, making it difficult to damage him when he is swinging around the room. Luna Snow, with the Ice Arts ability, on the other hand, lets an off-centre shot still deal useful damage.
Both heroes, however, can use their ultimate to keep the team at full health when Spider-Man’s own is used, essentially negating a lot of its damage entirely to your team.
How To Counter Spider-Man As A Vanguard
Vanguards are highly difficult for Spider-Man to eliminate because of their high health. However, a team player counter that you should use is Peni Parker. Her Cyber-Web Snare can be shot towards Spider-Man to entrap him for a brief few seconds, which can be excellent to use if he is swinging in the air, and you want him to come tumbling down.
When he is trapped, immediately mark Spider-Man, so your team knows where he is and, with the help of a few teammates, he will need to come crawling back to the objective zone from the enemy’s respawn point after being eliminated by you all.
Venom can be a great counter for him too as a Vanguard, especially for close-range melee attacks, since Venom can overpower Spider-Man with his, but overall, Peni Parker is the hero to stick with for immobilising the web-swinging hero.
