Helldivers 2‘s creative director Johan Pilestedt has long made it clear that he and the rest of the team are open to crossovers – within reason. He’s previously said that any collaboration would have to respect Helldivers 2’s lore, and he doesn’t want the game to turn into “Kingdom Hearts or Fortnite”.
Now, there’s another restriction being placed on these crossovers: they can’t make changes to the enemies, or introduce new ones. Or at least, nothing like this is being planned right now, as Pilestedt believes that it’s important to keep this part of the game consistent.

The game’s director wants to keep us focused on the task at hand
This came after Twitter user @Folken86448332 asked Pilestedt if future crossovers would add enemies from another series.
“No, the enemy foes need to remain intact,” he replies. “Or well, i guess we could do a time limited event at some point – but not a focus rn [sic]”.
This isn’t overly surprising, given the previous comments made about crossovers and collaborations. It seems that Arrowhead wants to ensure that Helldivers 2 retains its own identity, and a bit part of that is uniting humanity against the Terminids, Automatrons, and Illuminates.
Last month, we got a crossover with Killzone. This proved controversial at launch due to its pricing, so the second wave of Killzone content was made free. We’ll have to wait and see what comes next as we enter 2025.
