Andrew Garfield has lifted the lid on potential plans to appear in Spider-Man 4.

Notable scooper MyTimeToShineHello claims Dafne Keen will reprise her role as X-23 (real name Laura Kinney) in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Another reputable scooper, The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, also took the X to claim Kelsey Grammer will return as Beast (real name Dr. Hank McCoy) for Avengers. However, they did not specify if it was for Doomsday, Secret Wars, or both. Details on how substantial X-23 or Beast’s roles will be in the next two Avengers movies were not divulged.

News of Keen’s X-23 and Grammer’s Beast’s returning for Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars is exciting but unsurprising. While both versions of these characters are from Fox’s X-Men movies, they joined the MCU in separate films during the Multiverse saga. Keen, who first portrayed X-23 opposite Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in James Mangold’s 2017 acclaimed film Logan, reprised her role roughly 8 years later in Deadpool and Wolverine. While X-23 had been exiled to the Void, she is seen celebrating with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, Jackman’s Wolverine, and their friends in the movie’s final scene. Grammer returned as Beast in The Marvels‘ post-credits scene, where he greeted Monica Rambeau when she woke up in an alternate universe.

Beast’s return in The Marvels is one of many Marvel post-credits scenes that haven’t paid off yet. However, if these Avengers: Doomsday casting rumors are true, the payoff for that exciting but thus far inconsequential scene may finally arrive next year. Both Keen and Grammer have expressed interest in returning, with the latter confirming he’s had conversations with Marvel Studios about reprising his X-Men role. So, there may be some truth to these rumors, which have yet to be confirmed by official sources as of this writing.

The X-Men are expected to play a significant role in the next two Avengers movies, so X-23 and Beast will likely be joined by more mutants when they return for Doomsday and Secret Wars. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed Avengers: Secret Wars will lead into a new X-Men era, and fans are excited to see how the team factors into the Multiverse saga and what Feige plans to do with mutants. There’s a theory that Avengers: Secret Wars will reboot the MCU and establish a new continuity where mutants were part of the franchise from the beginning. Including multiple X-Men characters in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars might give credence to this theory.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 1, 2026.
