Ever since 2K took over the WWE games license, around this time every year is when the updates for the annualized WWE 2K series begin to diminish in anticipation of the next installment. And while many fans are spending time looking forward to the likes of Jacob Fatu and Oba Femi in 2K25, one fan took it upon themselves to look back at 2K24‘s “Persona” cards.

Specifically, the fan did the math to find out just how much collecting all the Persona cards would cost a player. For the uninitiated, Persona cards serve as alternate attires for wrestlers already in the game. They are almost all exclusively unlocked via the MyFaction mode via in-game grinding, or can be purchased outright from the marketplace using Virtual Currency (VC).
It turns out, to collect every Persona card, it’ll cost you over $900, and that’s being generous.

Taking to the WWE Games subreddit, the user shared their findings and the math behind it all. According to the gamer, the combined cost of every Persona card on the marketplace at the time of their project was 3,211,142 VC. That number roughly translated into $899.91 real-life dollars.
And as one user pointed out, that figure does not count the “Oddity” cards or ones that were relegated to live events. In other words, that number could be even higher.
Of course, one might wonder the benefits of these cards, and from a gameplay perspective, there isn’t anything to write home about. However, as we’ve reported on before, the Persona cards do offer alternate looks that are unique, including a series based on PlayStation 2-level graphics, along with cards dedicated to forgotten versions of a wrestler’s particular character.
In other words, they’re neat ways to celebrate the history of wrestling with already existing characters that players have access to by virtue of simply owning the game. That, in turn, makes the prospect of paying to “own” an alternate version all the more frustrating for players.
“I really want the 2001-era Booker T,” one user wrote in part. “The cost? Basically, $70.” Meanwhile, another user noted the currency discrepancy once you step out of the US. “It’s disgusting. $67 Canadian for 167,000 VC, which isn’t even enough to unlock a lot of the cards.”
With WWE 2K25 on the horizon, it remains to be seen if “Persona” cards will be here to stay for the long-run. However, given the game’s shift to a more live-service model, with money figures like the ones listed, it seems like a no-brainer at 2K’s end.
