There are dozens of enemy types in NieR: Automata many of which drop different materials used to upgrade your pod and weapon. There is no master list that tells you exactly which enemies drop which materials, and while you’ll find most materials normally as you play the game, some will require some dedicated farming.
Warped Wire is one of those materials that aren’t dropped by many enemies, and those that do drop them can be easily run past. For those in need of Warped Wire, here’s where to go to easily farm some enemies that drop them.

Nier: Automata has a total of 26 endings that traditionally require at least three playthroughs to unlock. Here’s how to get them all.
Where To Get Warped Wire In NieR: Automata
Warped Wire is a potential drop from stacked bipedal machines. While not particularly strong, these enemies don’t spawn often except in one area. Fast Travel to the Desert Camp access point and follow the path forward towards the main desert. Before reaching the wide open desert, you’ll pass through some mountains as you follow a pipe, through a bit of ruins. This area will spawn multiple stacked enemies and is the most reliable place to find them.
There are two small clearings around destroyed buildings, and these are the two places you should check as all the machines near the building will be the stacked variants. Warped Wire has a decent drop rate, and you’ll usually get one or two for each time you clear all the machines in these areas. You can also use a Drop Rate Up plug-in chip to help make this process quicker.
There are a few ways you can get the machines to respawn to make your farming process quicker:
- Fast travel somewhere else then back to the Desert Camp to respawn all enemies.
- Running far away and coming back will respawn them, though the first method is much faster due to the distance you’ll have to run.
As long as you’re not dying often to these enemies, investing in drop rate increase chips is always a good idea, as so many upgrade materials are dropped from machines, and you’ll often find yourself completing similar farming methods to this one if you’re trying to upgrade all or even just a few of the weapons in the game. Movement Speed increase chips can also help make trips to and from access points faster, and while it will only save you a few seconds here, they can help you complete the race side quests if you’re also looking to complete them.
