The Most Powerful Characters In Honkai Star Rail

In Honkai: Star Rail, it’s evident that there are characters who are more powerful than others in terms of gameplay and practicality. However, a character’s strength in the game often isn’t an accurate representation of how powerful they really are in terms of lore.

HSR’s lore is rich in world-building that spans across galaxies, with some characters being able to destroy entire planets and even solar systems. Of course, this can never be truly translated in a gameplay sense, so here’s a ranking of some of the most powerful beings in the HSR universe.

Updated on January 06, 2025, by Sanyam Jain: As Honkai: Star Rail’s world is growing continuously, we’re bound to get more strong characters, with some of them even being able to change reality itself. The list has been updated to highlight these characters.

Although this list is about the strongest playable characters in the game, it wouldn’t be enough to rank all of them, as there are definitely a handful of powerful characters. Some honorable mentions include Boothill, Argenti, Aventurine, Fu Xuan, Kafka, Silver Wolf, Yanqing, Gepard, Himeko, and Xueyi. The rest on the list are mainly on the same power level, with a few being particularly ahead of the others.

Trailblazer

Galactic Baseballer

The Trailblazer follows the story of the typical main character who suddenly gains an enormous source of power and goes on adventures to get even stronger. However, the power that they have inside of them is known for causing destruction to entire planets, and they’re able to fully contain it in their body.

With the Stellaron (Cancer of All Worlds) inside of them, it raises no question that the Trailblazer is extremely powerful, although the extent of their power just hasn’t been fully explored in the story yet. As of Penacony, the Trailblazer has also been recognized by three Aeons, something most mortals dedicate their entire lives to achieve.

Black Swan

Memokeeper

Black Swan is a Memokeeper from the Garden of Recollection, a faction that worships the Aeon of Remembrance, Fulli. As a Memokeeper, she no longer has a physical body, only taking on the form of a Memetic Entity and freely travelling across the universe, even outside the realm of reality, to collect memories.

She possesses supernatural abilities beyond the human mind, such as making herself completely invisible and only choosing who she wants to show herself to. She also can enter the minds of others through their memories, allowing her to read, alter, and even erase any person’s memory.

Dan Heng

Imbibitor Lunae

Dan Heng presents himself as the cold and reserved guard and archivist of the Astral Express, the reason for joining is to escape his past. In truth, his actual form is that of a Vidyadhara, a race of dragon-like long-life species from the Xianzhou Alliance.

Moreover, he isn’t just any Vidyadhara, but the present incarnation of the High Elder of the Xianzhou Luofu, known as Imbibitor Lunae, possessing authority over water. As a direct descendant of the Aeon of Permanence Long, Dan Heng can square up with most intergalactic beings such as Emanators.

Blade

Immortal Swordsman

Blade is another member of the Stellaron Hunters, a swordsman who abandoned his body to become a living weapon with the mysterious ability to heal any wound on himself. Blade gained immortality during the Xianzhou’s battle with Shuhu, an Emanator of Abundance, to which he tampered with Shuhu’s flesh and became immortal.

As a swordsman stricken with Mara, Blade not only has destructive strength, but he also tends to become mad with insanity due to the years of torture that he had to endure. His immortality allows him to recover from virtually anything, meaning he can never die even if he is reduced to dust.

Sunday

The Order’s Messenger

Ever since Sunday was first shown during the Penacony arc of the story, it was obvious that he wasn’t someone to be messed with. He was one of the members of The Family, and it was soon revealed that he was also the main villain orchestrating the fall of the planet during the Charmony festival.

Even after trailblazers found out and challenged him, he managed to almost trick everyone. The developers knew this character was too strong to be removed from the picture after Penacony, and we saw his return during the Penacony continuance in the Version 2.7.

Herta

Emanator of Erudition

Herta is #83 of the Genius Society, whose members were personally selected by the Aeon of Erudition Nous, and the master of the renowned Herta Space Station. She is also an Emanator of Erudition, meaning she can draw the power of Erudition directly from Nous itself.

She presents herself in the form of multiple puppets that she modeled from her younger self, with her real body’s whereabouts being unknown. Not much is known about her true potential yet, but having the highest IQ on her home planet and being an Emanator is enough to know that she’s definitely above most beings in the universe.

Welt

Former Herrscher of Reason

Although this is a list of Honkai: Star Rail characters, you have to understand the lore of the Honkai series to fully understand just how powerful Welt is. In Honkai Impact 3rd, Welt was the second Herrscher of Reason, capable of feats such as creating anything out of thin air and cheating death by storing his consciousness and transferring it to a newly reconstructed body.

Currently, Welt isn’t as strong as he used to be anymore due to having passed his Herrscher core to his successor, and having an injured body. However, he’s still a force to be reckoned with as he possesses the Star of Eden, a weapon capable of manipulating gravity and unleashing synthetic black holes, disguised as his cane.

Firefly

Strategic Assault Mech

At first sight, Firefly is merely a young girl, but it’s later revealed that Firefly is actually a member of the Stellaron Hunters and is the one inside the robot armor SAM, a genetically engineered warrior that possesses superhuman strength and is capable of turning the entire battlefield into ashes.

Born to be a weapon, Firefly/SAM was once part of Glamoth’s Iron Cavalry, which are genetically engineered warriors created to fight against the Swarm that plagued the universe. After the fall of Glamoth during the Swarm Disaster, Firefly was able to use her power to destroy an entire planet to exterminate any remnants of the Swarm.

Jingliu

Sword Champion of the Luofu

Jingliu was once known as the Sword Champion of the Xianzhou Luofu and Jing Yuan’s mentor before succumbing to Mara. Prior to being mara-struck, she was already capable of beating her former peers when it came to sword fighting and even parting the sea with only her blade.

In her current state, she’s able to wipe out an entire army all by herself, fueled by the insanity that comes with being mara-struck. She also possesses superhuman might, as the entirety of Jing Yuan’s army couldn’t take her down and had to rely on Lightning Lord to finish her off, which she was able to survive.

Jing Yuan

The Divine Foresight

The renowned General Jing Yuan is one of the seven Arbiter-Generals of the Cloud Knights of the Xianzhou Alliance, and the wielder of Lightning Lord. He’s been the general of the Xianzhou Luofu for centuries, known for his strategic wisdom and battle strategy.

It is said that the Arbiter-Generals have power that can match Lord Ravagers (Emanators of Destruction), armed with formidable spirits bestowed by the Aeon of the Hunt, Lan, and wield great power. By himself, Jing Yuan is already a formidable warrior, but the Lightning Lord makes him an unstoppable force, able to cause destruction with just one swing.

Ruan Mei

The Mysterious Genius

Even though Honkai: Star Rail has been out for over a year, Ruan Mei has never truly appeared in the main story just yet. Even though her presence is limited to the continuance quests, it’s quite easy to tell that she’s one of the strongest characters in the game by just having a glance at her scientific mind.

During The Xianzhou Luofu continuance, it was also revealed that Ruan Mei was able to find Tingyun’s consciousness and save her, which is a difficult task considering an Emanator of Destruction banished her herself.

Acheron

Emanator of Nihility

Acheron and her home planet were accidentally engulfed by the Aeon IX, to which she survived and not only became a Self-Annihilator but also an Emanator of Nihility. As an Emanator, Acheron is one of the strongest beings in the universe and derives her power directly from the Aeon of Nihility, IX, inferior only to the Aeons themselves.

Acheron is considered to be an impossible existence, because the path of Nihility cares about nothing, yet Acheron managed to gain IX’s glance.

She often fights with her blade sheathed, only drawing it when absolutely necessary, as she can delete anything from existence itself with just one slash, and even sever the influence of other Aeons. She’s capable of performing many unimaginable feats, such as stopping time, cutting through a black hole, and walking the line between life and death to guide lost souls.
