It’s time for CES 2025, which means a gluttony of hardware news is on its way. Before the trade show has officially kicked off, however, we’ve already got our first look at a new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card from third-party manufacturer Inno3D.
This Inno3D card is the first real look at what an RTX 5090 is going to physically look like, with this new Nvidia flagship strongly expected to fully dominate as the best graphics card you can buy once it launches. However, while this leak gives us a glimpse at Inno3D’s vision for the new card, Nvidia-manufactured 5090’s will likely look quite different, with those graphics cards expected to launch with Nvidia’s own branding and design.
Either way, thanks to a report by Videocardz, we can now see the first (and only, so far) image of this new GPU range. This particular card uses Inno3D’s new iChill branding, with the card’s box emblazoned with the name “iChill by Inno3D GeForce RTX 5090 X3.” As to the card itself, it looks enormous, with a huge 3.5-slot thick cooler with three fans and a height that sails high above the limits of the rear IO bracket. The 3.5-slot design makes it as thick and potentially heavy as some of Nvidia’s last-gen cards like the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see even larger variants given the expected increase in the cards power requirements.
Meanwhile, the GPU’s box seemingly confirms that the 5090 will include 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM, which follows earlier 5090 VRAM leaks just before Christmas, which pointed to this being the 5090’s VRAM capacity. That’s an increase on the 24GB that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 ships with, while the upgrade to GDDR7 memory chips will offer memory bandwidth improvements over the GDDR6X chips used in RTX 40-series cards.
There’s not much else to go on so far, and it’s just one picture, but it’s an interesting look at just how big these top-tier cards continue to be. Just like the 4090 and 4080 before it, you’re going to need some of the largest best PC case options to fit a GPU like this. Also, if you’re planning to mount the GPU horizontally, you’ll need a case with good GPU brackets to support it, such as you’ll find on the the Hyte Y70 Touch.
While we don’t know anything officially just yet, we do know from recent 5090 power draw rumors that the 5090 will have a higher thermal design power rating than the RTX 4090, with it set to hit 575W, or 125W more than the older card. With Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang expected to share details about the RTX 5000 series cards like the 5090 during Nvidia’s CES 2025 keynote later today, we don’t have long to wait for some of these gaps to be filled in.
