Marvel Rivals has been eating up the multiplayer shooter zeitgeist since it arrived on the scene early last month. The game’s impressive 33-hero launch roster wowed fans of Marvel, as did its tight third-person gameplay. In one Marvel Rivals match, two Bruce Banner players were given the space to duke it out 1v1 as the rest of the lobby looked on.
Much like Overwatch‘s mech-based hero D.Va, Marvel Rivals’ Hulk operates in two phases. Players spawn into the match as scientist Bruce Banner, and need to manually Hulk out to gain the powerful moveset of his alter ego. Once killed, the Hulk shrinks back down into Bruce Banner, who can Hulk out once more if he survives long enough. Bruce Banner’s base kit is very simple, seeing that the character is designed to mostly be used in Hulk form. His Gamma Ray Gun and Gamma Grenade are the only two tools at his disposal.

A Marvel Rivals player climbs to Grandmaster in Competitive and has one tip for players looking to do the same in NetEase Games’ popular hero shooter.
On Twitter, Marvel Rivals Media highlighted a clip posted by imaginary priority of an epic 1v1 duel between two Bruce Banners. The 30-second clip saw both teams clear out a space on the capture point for both Banners, Zettarin and Zombieplayer94, to go at it. An arrow from Hawkeye initiated the fight and the two Banners began circling around the cube in the center of the point before trading Gamma Ray shots and grenades. Eventually, both players were down to just a sliver of health before Zombieplayer94 had the winning melee blow. Zettarin’s Winter Soldier teammate immediately retaliated, finishing off Zombieplayer with a fierce uppercut, triggering both teams to jump back in.
Marvel Rivals Bruce Banner Players Go At It In 1v1 Brawl
Using Bruce Banners for a 1v1 fight makes a lot of sense, considering an important aspect of many of these online duels is to use as little weaponry as possible; non-Hulked out Bruce Banner has the smallest kit in the whole game. It would’ve been even more interesting if both Banners were allowed to Hulk out during the battle, or even use their ultimates, Monster Hulk. With so many other melee-based heroes, like Captain America, Black Panther, Iron Fist, Wolverine, and others, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see even more 1v1 brawls with these heroes.
Even with 33 playable heroes filling up the roster, Marvel Rivals still has a ton more in store for fans, as Season 1 is set to begin on Friday, January 10. Marvel Rivals‘ first season will add the Fantastic Four, which includes Mister Fantastic, The Thing, Invisible Woman, and Human Torch. Rest assured, The Thing and Mister Fantastic would likely make for fun heroes to have 1v1 battles with, considering their powers.
