No game is perfect though, and while more pressing problems – such as Hawkeye and Hela’s destructive power – are getting addressed soon, there is one issue that Marvel Rivals players are becoming increasingly irritated by – the game’s absolutely woeful ping system.

Ping systems are a little bit under-appreciated these days. They can be absolutely crucial to getting info across to teammates in a non-verbal way, and they’re only really noticed when they’re not up to par. For as good as Marvel Rivals is, it definitely needs an overhaul to its ping system, as Reddit user IndependentRoad6860 and others claimed on the Marvel Rivals subreddit earlier today.
One of the main issues that people are talking about is the lack of options when trying to ping a DPS that has infiltrated your group’s backline. A lot of complaints come in the form of people talking about how woeful the ping system was at marking an enemy Iron Fist or Black Panther, pinging random objectives, or trying to communicate via other phrases, but teammates misunderstand, and they get wiped anyway.

NetEase has gone so hard on the Rivals launch that it has me worried for its future.
All throughout that Reddit thread, you’ll find countless people that despise the current system, such as a user called Revo_Int92 who called it “awfully implemented”, while another user called LukasLiBrand says that ping systems are done “better in almost any game”, and that it’s “crazy” Marvel Rivals has such a bad one in 2024.
You’ll also find quite a lot of people talking about how they’ve managed to create workarounds to make their own ping system, such as rebinding particular buttons so they can say they “Need healing” at the click of button instead of having to mess about with the wheel. Even then, most say it’s a horrible way to do it, and improvements are needed. Fingers crossed for Season 2, I guess.
