What to expect from AMD’s CES keynote

The most anticipated reveal expected to occur during Nvidia’s CES 2025 keynote is that of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, which is expected to be the most powerful single GPU ever made with performance that’s 50% faster than the RTX 4090. Based on the Blackwell architecture that’s already powering the company’s AI server chips, the new GPU is expected to house a ludicrous 21,760 CUDA cores, which is 5,375 more than the RTX 4090.

Along with this flagship card, we’re also expecting to hear at least something about the company’s lower tier GPUs, such as the RTX 5080, RTX 5070, and RTX 5060. These aren’t expected to see quite such large leaps in performance as the RTX 5090, with rumored CUDA core counts not much higher than current equivalent models. However, they’re expected to have faster GDDR7 VRAM which could unlock lots more performance.

We could also see Nvidia talk about new mobile GPUs for gaming laptops, plus the company has long been rumored to be involved in the development of the Nintendo Switch 2.

A new version of DLSS has also been rumored. DLSS 4 is expected to bring even greater levels of graphically fidelity and performance to the company’s AI-enhanced upscaling algorithm.
